New Death Knights [Theory]

I’ve tried several times. With some really good DM’s. I just don’t engage with stories in that format. I can’t “picture” things when I’m told to (though I have a vivid imagination on my own) and I get a really weird stage fright kinda feeling.

Interesting. I’m sorry you struggle with that hon. I love tabletop because it has way more creative freedom than any video game I’ve ever played. Hoping to find a new group have’n’t played in almost 2 years. I can always picture things very vividly. In fact when I think back on it I remember less of sitting around a table and more of what our characters were doing. I remember that so vividly.

I hadn’t played since the 80’s until my stepdaughter wanted to try it with all her friends. They gave me a week and we had a table full of 14 year old girls learning how fun D&D can be. They had the best time when they rolled a natural “1” and I just kinda got silly.

Anyway, the reason I said what I said is most of these MMORPGs from EQ through today are all pretty much based on D&D. Its just the gaming syatem that lets you play online. I realize people who were not playing these games from 1999-2005 may not see these games this way, but it IS what they were back then. A way to play D&D online and most of the classes reflected what was popular in D&D from the 80s -00s - in games or novels.

Okay let’s assume the leaked data means most if not all of the races will be getting death knights. Which would likely mean a revamped DK starter zone.

Ok wow… Randomly found this old thread of mine. I was pretty on point. Most of my theories crap out.

When do you think this would take place. Probably not 8.3. But it should be noted that some early allied race info was in 7.3 and they came out in 7.3.5. So my theory is it’s going to be similar here. The next expansion is going to be announced and as part of the pre-order bonus you’ll get access to the revamped DK starting zone. Or it’s not part of a pre-order bonus but still think it’ll be here in 8.3.5 and be highly connected to the next expansion.

I was less than optimistic but came in 8.3 (And apparently not gonna be an 8.3.5)

Now I don’t believe we’re getting a wrath 2.0. At least not directly. I do see a shadowlands/death expansion where Bolvar is an “Ally” similar to how Illidan was in legion.

He’ll take advantage of all the dead from legion and BFA to raise a new generation of of death knights to fight the 9.0 “Big bad”. It was already shown in Legion that the PC death knight can raise new death knights and rose many from those who perished on the broken shore. But I don’t think that’ll be our starter zone because it’s not caught up enough to include most of the allied races.

Unfortunately he made them shortly before his confrontation with Sylvanas. While Sylvanas didn’t kill him he seems to weak to be able to create more death knights knights or raise undead en mass. With the Helm of Domination destroyed he lost control of the majority of undead in northrend… Hmm I wonder how the sentient undead like Neurbians will behave? I have a feeling that won’t be addressed at least not in shadowlands.

I have also heard a rumor of another set of relaxed class/race combos (Honestly I hope one day the restriction is gone completely but doubt it will happen). Other than allied races and pandaren getting DKs also worgen/goblin/potentially lightforged getting monks and some others for races that have very low amount of race/class combos. Highmountain tauren may also get paladin and priest after having an entire expansion with their Mulgore kin.

Unfortunately nothing on this. But no aesthetic customization coming which is none the less exciting.

I have also heard a lot about new class. I’ve heard both Tinker and Necromancer. I’d prefer the later to be honest. But any new class is welcome. Might actually play a mechagnome if we get tinker.

Nope no new class. Which has me slightly concerned because in my experience expansions with a new class have always been more fun than those without one. My top 3 expansions are the ones that brought in new classes. Though I do get how we have A LOT of classes and it’s already hard to balance. And BFA is my 4th favourite. Although mostly because of all the QoL things from over the years. If you take the expansion in a vaccum and only count what it added it’s not as good.

I’m excited at the prospect of any new race/class combo. I was fearing no new race was going to get death knights for awhile and that made me sad. I’m happy it looks like they probably will.

One thing I am sad about is no dk skin tones for the new races. They said they were coming. Guess we have to wait for 9.0. Sucks though. Hopefully it comes sooner rather than later.
