The post about needing more dwarf subraces has me wondering if we’ll see more customization options for races in Midnight – because I sure hope so. Several races are still a bit lacking, and honestly all races would benefit.
Have they (Blizzard) mentioned any plans about more updates in the near-ish future?
Not sure about near future, but I saw an interview with Ion during Dragonflight I believe where he said that type of stuff is ongoing and they are always working on ways to update races, they just have to go one race at a time or something.

I sure hope so. But it would also be nice to get some more before midnight as well.
Anything’s possible, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. They’re probably pushing hard on the art for player housing, I doubt they have much extra bandwidth for character customization.
I don’t ever expect to see the customizations I personally want, usually it’s something like more colors for hair, or something like that, and not something I’d prefer.
I still think we need some serious updates like:
Straight backs for all
Facial hair for all
Class/Race tattoos and warpaint for all
Dark black fur for worgen
A lot more fur colors for Vulpera
More barbershop style and color option armor for Dracthyr
A lot of races need more face options
Some of my main wants, but we’ll get some more hair colors or something like that instead, lol. Speaking only for myself of course.
I imagine that the housing feature is a much bigger priority for Midnight, so I’m not really expecting much work being put towards customization options for playable races for the launch of Midnight.
They also continue to put a lot of effort into customizable mounts and customizable NPC races on the developers’ side. Also, if we get more new playable races, that takes resources away from adding customization options for older playable races.
Void elves need more void customizations, less high elf. High elf customizations are the majority for this race who is “void”.
Most of the focus on customizations went towards Humans and Orcs. Wish every other race would have the same amount as Humans and Orcs.
That is exciting, I don’t mind if it is slow and steady, as long as it’s steady. Can’t wait to see what they come up with.

It makes me wonder if they could ever add several body shapes for every race like the dracthyr have. Or maybe that completely messes up the 3d armor pieces an isn’t worth the investment.
And even that was obnoxious thanks to their arbitrary need to tie so many of the human faces and skin tones together.
I hope we finally get Forest and Frost Troll options. Could even add the buff Troll model as a toggle like they did with Orcs standing upright.
Really? People barely play the ones we have.
Elves will probably get a lot in Midnight.
Personally I want to see more customization options for Pandaren (who got a couple new hairstyles and DK fur colors), as well as a TON more options for Zandalari, Kul Tirans, Vulpera and the other allied races. I mean KT, Zandalari and Vulpera have almost nothing.
I’ll be sort of the pooper and say I feel it’s ridiculous how little customization we get for our actual character models in this game. Years and years apart. 
Dracthyr got a lot. But if your not human, orc or dracthyr then well… bleh.

Not exactly visual customizations… but I hope we can get some options on Racial abilities like how the Zandalari get to pick their Loa…for example, let Dwarves and Orcs pick a clan to get a different set of passives… Orcs could greatly benefit from this as it would create an opportunity to have the pet health/damage passives replaced for non-pet class players…
Need more blindfolds and tattoos for DHs.
