New Customization Options for Blood Elves and Void Elves

My point is that pointing to the forum community as representative of the playerbase as a whole just because is a bit… no.

It’s not really, especially when the person in question has a pretty long history of using those themes as derogatory terms for that race, and then it just so happens those very themes end up on a long list of themes he’s pitching for that race. You can even find him in threads were people brought up the possibility of golden eyes, and he did the same thing, he even went into a blood elf request thread and told them no to themes they had every right to ask for.

If you want to remain convinced that it isn’t the case, fine, by all means, be my guest.

Except he isn’t pitching their architecture, Drede almost exclusively lists dark/corrupted themes for Blood elves, it literally took this conversation for him to post a list with one or two non-dark themes on them.

alrighty then.

I can understand if one particular poster is making you feel this way. Just so long as you don’t paint all of us with that brush. I have numerous 120’s, both Alliance and Horde. I really like the Darkfallen themes and I honestly think that dark/gritty/gothic themes can also be very elegant and beautiful. I’m not asking for those themes to push them on you to somehow diminish Blood Elves. Quite the opposite in fact.

I ask for those themes because, not only do I like them and appreciate them aesthetically, but I also think that the additional options these provide enhance Blood Elves in the sense that it gives players access to a theme that’s often been shown on the Horde but never playable. A theme that has been consistently asked for by Horde players (and I mean “Horde players” in a non-numerically-specific manner so as not to rustle certain people’s jimmies) over the course of WoW’s existence.

I already know most people don’t feel that way, which is why I’ve repeatedly said that I don’t have a problem with them being requested, or added. But this individual in particular has made their stance pretty clear, so all this phony “good will” stuff isn’t fooling who actually knows them.

The thing is, I don’t mind these themes, I’d see them much in the way I’d see how they rationalized the golden eyes for non-light wielding blood elves. If the player chooses to have those features, or beliefs for their character, that’s totally awesome, but I don’t like people suggesting those are Blood elven themes, when the whole justification for even making the request to have them is the subraces in question.

More options for players are always awesome, and I appreciate and enjoy the visual aesthetic for the Darkfallen as well, I simply wouldn’t contribute those themes to the Blood elves themselves, much like I wouldn’t contribute Sand troll themes to Jungle trolls, which it seems some people are intent on doing in regards to the blood elves.

In the end, Identify your character however you want, but please don’t imply those options have any implication on the race’s lore or narrative itself.

Well not just Void Elf stuff.

Hopefully the next alpha build will not only make the new Void Elf options available, but also add some new Blood Elf options. While I’d prefer more new unique hairstyles for Blood Elves, I still can’t help but ask for non-tentacled versions of Void Elf hair for them, if only because asking for an existing asset to be ported has a higher chance of happening than asking for brand new assets to be created.

you’re not allowed to ask for stuff for blood elves, cause you’re not a blood elf.

my apologies to the nice blood elf lady who i promised i’d help promote druids for. and to lannisterian, who wants dark rangers so badly, that i began asking for it, for him. added my voice. and to snowsong, who requested light scars/tattoos/white wings for blood elves.

I’d enjoy some glowy light themed tattoos, or even hair elements for my Blood Elf Holy Priest.

I’ve leveled characters on both sides ever since vanilla so I could see all the content. I currently have 7 120’s on Horde side (3 Blood Elves (Mage/Priest/DH), 1 Tauren (Druid), 2 Nightborne (Mage/Priest), 1 Vulpera (Shaman)), with several other Horde characters in the 111-116 range (My Blood Elf Rogue is next to be 120).

Go ahead and ask for it, then. I ain’t stopping you :stuck_out_tongue:

Why does this matter? Why would Void elves need lore justification for the Paladin class when they don’t have lore justification for any class? If we’re going to pretend that Void elf holy priests and Lightforged Shadow priests are “non-canon” then why can’t we do the same for Void Elf Paladins?  That’s only fair right?

This is why class themes should just stick to classes and not be applied to an entire race.

Edit: I lost who I was replying to, R.I.P.

Void ais anti-thetical to Light. They explode. That’s why. No other class has this issue.

No, because those are specs, and you can’t lock someone out of specs. Its not hard logic to understand. Of course, you are simply being facetious because you can’t stand playing a blood elf paladin on the Horde, and need it for the alliance.

So by that logic, no void elf paladins

you’re not allowed to talk about void elf stuff cause you’re not a void elf…oopsie, you are a void elf.

too much logic!

Are priests just completely non-canon now because it fits your narrative?

Says who? Blizzard came out and gave lore justification for Forsaken Holy priests who were at first thought to be non-canon as well. So why couldn’t they do the same for Void Elves then, hmmm? Also, I don’t care about the Paladin class, it’s just that using that argument to lock void elves out of it doesn’t make sense.

And no Blood elf priests since apparently they’re all Void elves.
