New Customization Options for Blood Elves and Void Elves

I disagree.

I think they can give options for both depending on how you want to set it up.

The problem is they are only focusing on the glitter and not the grit.

They can add more ‘Goth’ looking jewelry options.

They can add Runes with the options to glow Fel/Arcane/Light/Death.

They can add more wild/brutal Haircuts.

They can add Dark Rangers.

But focusing on “Pretty Elf” alone is not doing it for people.

The thing is, the kinda committed to “pretty” but in the most boring way possible.

What part of their culture is “goth”? I understand gritty and all that other stuff, but that can easily intertwine with their normal “pretty” culture.

I mean darker and things like chokers and nose/eyebrow rings.

Because most people do want their elves to be pretty, and elegant, it’s the reason why the Blood elves were so popular in the first place. Stop trying to push the themes you hate on another race, simply because you’re stuck with them on your void elves.

In the end Blood elves are holy elves, yes there’s nothing wrong with adding some customization to include other darker subraces, but that does not mean the visual design for the Blood elves themselves is going to change. If a player wants a gritty, or gothic elf they can quite simply pick a void elf.

There is none, he’s just trying to push this narrative because he wants the “High elves” to be the holy race, and wants the Blood elves to be the corrupt dark race. You should have seen his tantrum in the forums when gold eyes were first mentioned in the forums.

Drede can’t get over the fact that void elves are the Alliance High elf race.

Oh, right. I’d want stuff like that, for sure.

Yeah no, I don’t want to go on the alliance to play a dark elf when there’s already Dark Rangers who are HORDE and San’layn that almost joined it. Shoving in the people’s faces that want both brutality AND elegance to “just go play Alliance” when Void Elves honestly should have been Horde in the first place, and yes that’s my solid opinion, is obnoxious.

Actually, I’ve seen quite a few who want darker themes, including myself. I’d rather people not talk for “most” and just speak for themselves. Also, no, Blood elves aren’t just shoved into the “holy” category because some people chose to have golden eyes. There’s elves that still have their green, heck they’re adding even more eye colors.

So no, there shouldn’t be just one singular theme of “holy” to blood elves when they bloody originally came from fel. That’s their origin and they joined the Horde because they had to make that decision.

So suddenly because of this Sunwell change, no, they’re not just strictly ‘holy’ and even so, saying they should primarily have just the shiny flashy jewelry as customization options is not cutting it.

Just because you seem to hate dark themes and want to shove us all to the Alliance doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be allowed to suggest, ask for it, and want it. It’s not “tainting” your “Vision” of Blood Elves. Those that want the ‘holy’ theme and gaudy jewlery can have it. But with other races getting a mixture (like dwarves, trolls, and etc), yes, Blood Elves indeed can vary in theme too.

I just want dreads for my dark skinned elf.

I feel like most people want to maximize player agency and representation of other Horde related Thalassian groups than erase the Blood Elf aesthetic.

I do want both myself as you can see I typicslly make my Blood Elves as shiny and flamboyant as I can, but that can get boring and one dimensional. I also don’t think anyone is suggesting to get rid of the Blood Elves polished aesthetic, they merely were discussing ‘what if’ hypotheticals and as far as my tastes go, I ofc would oppose making Blood Elves just gritty, which I feel is also highly unlikely, so there’s not really anything to fear on that front.

For crying out loud. I am sick of this crud.

People can want to play different facets of a race and it doesn’t tread on the other facets if people like a different one.

They’re freaken called BLOOD Elves!

They started out as a gretty broken people from WC3 who delved into forbidden magics to survive! That’s how a good chunk of people started playing them! And it’s okay to like that just as much as it’s okay to like pretty stuff.

People play Death Knights!

People play Rogues!

People play Warlocks!

People play Demon Hunters!

People play Warriors!

People want to play Blood Mages!

People want to play Dark Rangers!

People want to play San’layn!

People want grit! It doesn’t take away the glitter!

You want shiny jewelry? Let people have dark jewelry as well! (And let the guys have it as well. <.<)

You want flawless faces? Let people have scars if they want!

You want pretty hair? Let people have mohawks!

You want Holy Runes? Let people have Fel/Arcane/Death ones too!

Sincerely, a true fan of Blood Elves and their various themes.

I second this.

And an afro option.

AFROS FOR ALL!

Where did I say we couldn’t have both? I’m pointing out that saying that most people want darker themes on a pretty race, is false, considering that their elegant, and pretty appearance was the reason players flocked to them in the first place. It’s literally one of the biggest contributors for why Blood elves ended up on the Horde in the first place.

Considering that I literally said there’s nothing wrong with dark themes for subraces of the blood elves, I don’t really know who you’re arguing with?

I’m not saying there aren’t people who would be interested in these themes, but let’s not say that most people want those themes on Blood elves, because that’s quite frankly untrue.

I really don’t know where she’s getting off telling me that I only want light themes when in the same post I say I don’t mind dark themes.

Which is literally meant to honor the blood shed by their loved ones, not as some dark precursor. It’s funny that you’d use their name in your argument, and yet VOID should be purified and cleansed of the void elves? funny how this argument only applies to the race you dislike.

The Blood Elf name has NOTHING to do with their themes, it is simply then name they’ve chosen to honor their dead. Their main theme has always been Arcane (and now also light/holy).

Exactly, it’s not to say we shouldn’t have dark themes to represent other dark subraces, but to say that Blood elves should now be goth elves is so far off the mark.

By what twisted logic do I dislike Blood Elves?

Or can you simply not accept the fact that I and others like their darker themes and wish to expand upon them?

The entire thematic of Blood Elves is tragedy and triumph. Without the tragedy they are just boring. It takes away a lot of what drew some of us to them in the first place.

It’s a safe bet i’m not the only person here who loved to spam click the Blood Mages back in 2004 just for the dark humor.

If someone liking different things about a race is a threat to what you like about them, that’s your problem and you have to deal with it.

I mean, you had a mild freakout over the mention of “goth” jewelry in quotation marks from a conversation that they shouldn’t just focus on just Gritty or Pretty options.

If that’s enough to somehow destroy your idea of Blood Elves just because other people get options you don’t like, then that’s something you have to deal with. Not me.

It’s a great thing no one said that.

I said got options. Not convert the entire race to just goth themes.

Maybe because you take it upon yourself to crusade against anything not dark for blood elves, and have shown no interest in blood elf requests until this point. You trolled blood elf players who wanted gold eyes relentlessly with quotes like “You’re tainted! Deal with it!” and now suddenly want us to believe you’re pushing for these tainted themes out of the goodness of your heart?

Why does it seem like you only have an open mind for Blood elf customization when it revolves around dark themes? Yet cringe at light theme requests? Or ranger tats? You can’t even bring it upon yourself to add braids to your blood elf request list.

What? Tragedy is not necessary to make something fun, and interesting. You conveniently forgot redemption in that list too.

I don’t mind adding different themes, but don’t complain about pretty themes as if people are unsatisfied with them in comparison to goth themes, which is pretty absurd.

Except that’s exactly what you did.

I would even add Felblood skins straight up.

I’d also love energy based wings as well, one gold option consisting of holy magic and a green one consisting of Fel energy for example.

felblood skin color is, i think, already a belf option in shadowlands. isnt there a dark red skin?

by energy based, do you mean sorta like holograms?

Felblood Elves have red, blue, and grey skin. Maybe green I don’t recall.

I’m pretty sure you were the one against tats for my litter of rangers. Not cool.
