That would be amazing. I’ve seen fan models for female Broken and they actually look really cool.
Rose gold friendship bracelets incoming!
Good thing people care.
I’d disagree.
I guess one of the ironies is that what traditionally makes you a “High Elf” belongs to Blood Elves. Because Blood Elves are the majority of the race.
90% of the Elves who survived Arthas’s invasion of Quel’thalas changed their names to Blood Elves…
and Blood Elves did have some major cultural changes that coincide with the trauma of that invasion.
But that 90% represents the majority of the elves.
The 10% that stayed High Elves who refused to do the magic siphoning thing were always weird.
Like, all of the Mage Priests you see in Warcraft III ignored the High Elf Kings recall because they wanted to help out and heal…
and the Sorcerers you see in Warcraft III are actually from Dalaran.
So the High Elves that were left over were really chummy with humans.
I guess that’s one of the funny things about the discussion.
Blood Elves are the High Elves. But they changed their name. They’re not High Elves anymore.
The Elves in Theramore, the Elves in Stormwind, the Alliance Elves… The Quel’danil Elves that hang out with Wildhammer Dwarves, The Allerian Hold Elves are all kind of weird by traditional High Elf standards.
I’d say the closest thing you’d have to a traditional High Elf that kept the name of High Elf would be the Quel’lithien lodge elves… but most of those Elves either joined the Alliance or died when they had artifact problems.
The Silver Covenant is technically made out of mostly Dalaran High Elves and Dalaran High Elves are also some human hanging out with High Elves.
I think maybe you’ve misunderstood the request for High Elves? When people are asking for playable High Elves… They’re talking about High Elves like Yvera Dawnwing. Or the Mages in the Mage District. Or the Shield Mages. Or any of the Silver Covenant High Elves that we’ve been hanging out with every expansion.
My comments have largely been about efficacy.
Seems like an arbitrary cap on hairstyles at the moment, hopefully more to come?
I hope we find out soon that we are getting dark ranger options, and I hope they are amazing! I think it would be cool if they get a few shades of red to choose from, and maybe black as well. A dark red would be nice.
I love me some red hair.
World of Warcraft is brought to you by capitalism.
Some races like Vulpera which don’t have a true parent race would have been the odd ones out. But for the elves I think they should have done this.
Void Elves / High Elves - Have them as the “Sub Race” option to Night Elves.
Nightborne / San’layn / Dark Rangers - The “Sub Race” options to Blood Elves.
They might not be exactly related but at least they’re all Elves tied to the main Elf race on their respective factions.
You don’t need to yell ad nauseum into the void about a request spanning across 50 capped threads and let’s be real that number would be much less if not for the bickering for a request to succeed.
Pandaren options are all fine and working, but they feel like the less improved model.
Some good signs: lots of allied race stuff is disabled or missing. Like Mag’har eyes, vulpera eyes, vulpera jewelry decoupled from ears, zandalari eyes, nightborne eyes (the datamined ones aren’t enabled), nightborne jewelry, mechagnome eyes…
As I said… ironically the opposition to playable High Elves was very effective in making the request much, much more visible.
Blizzard seems to respond to excitement and volume.
I’m hoping this is what the AR system becomes, even more back by the possibility of them removing faction barries, that’s just one big squish at that point.
I already explained why it’s a really bad idea from both a software engineering and UX developer standpoint. You should read that post
Eh. They shouldn’t remove faction barriers. People are too invested in it.
It’s sad, but it’s likely one of the things that keeps WoW going.
Which were reversed for anyone who played after TBC
The first sentence contradicts the third one.
Qullithien high elves never joined the alliance or had a desire to do so. That is head canon.
They want to be blood elves on the alliance mostly
I like taking out an orc or two when I get the chance
Despite it being busier, it’s probably easier just to keep Blood Elves on one side and Void Elfs on the other and just rename em’ Elf.
There is no system. What makes people think its anything unique? Its literally recolors with a different name. Come on now.
