There has been 15 years of lobbying and the premise behind Shadowlands is that you can make the WoW character you’ve wanted to make.
The last two years of lobbying in particular has been intense and angry at Blizzard and it would have been very difficult for them to come out and say, “You can make the character you want.” while ignoring the High Elf request.
The “Theme” fairness argument has come after that. But, players who have wanted to play High Elves never asked for Void Elves. So it’s not fair to put that blame on them. It’s a blizzard thing…
and once again, the argument shouldn’t be, “They’ve got weirdo elves we should get our own thing.” It should be something rooted in WoW Lore that you actually want. Dark Rangers are a good spin on it.
But this is exactly what I was talking about when I said that the Dark Ranger thing was a disingenuous request.
High Elves have been part of WoW culture since 1996 and they’ve been affiliated with the Alliance since 2005. The WoW encyclopedia admits that some High Elves are joining the Alliance, even if it says they’re distrusted by the Night Elves.
It’s a lore request and it’s been ongoing.
This player fairness request is separate. But it’s also petulant.
If people want Dark Rangers they should do the work of lobbying for them.
I think he is mad because I used my voice to point out to Blizzard that as a core race I feel BEs are entitled to a bit more love during the core race customizations. And that doesn’t fit his narrative of wanting more stuff now? I’m unsure, and I’m a bit confused, but I do feel BE customization is lacking, and I know I’m not the only one who thinks that.
I like some of the body jewelry. But, the fact that they are likely to be unseen due to armor is frustrating. Still, some circlets and stuff will be fine. I never wear helmets.
Eh. The argument was always for playable High Elves.
Pointing out blue eyes was always a reaction to people saying they were already playable, especially after Ion’s gaffe when people knew for a fact that they weren’t.
People have always been asking for those elves you see in the mage district.
The opposition twisting that request and mischaracterizing it doesn’t make the request about that mischaracterization.
You’re allowed to want and ask for more stuff my guy, you’re not allowed to pretend that you’re losing the race you invented because your opinion on the customization is lacking.
Especially when it comes to other people asking for something that has nothing to do with your stuff.
Umbric squad, the first Void Elves were Blood Elves yes. But those High Elf Wayfarer NPC’s certainly imply that Alliance High Elves and defecting Silvermoon Scholars may be the newer generations of Void Elves. It’s something we’ve been asking Blizzard to clarify as it would offer a decent in-game reason why these new skin options are now available. But even if Blizzard doesn’t add any new text, the implication of those NPC’s is still there.
So you can keep trying to diminish our High Elves as Void Elves with “fleshy spray paint”, and I’ll keep pointing out that it’s just you being sore over us getting something we find acceptable.
Ion may not have said High Elves specifically during the Blizzcon reveal… but how could he when they hadn’t decided to give us these options till just recently? So if you want to try and pretend these options are not so we can make our High Elves out of Void Elves in the same way players can make Wildhammer Dwarves out of Dwarves, you can go right ahead but it only serves to highlight your bitterness over this.
I wish this were true, but unfortunately I often encounter players who use the name “High elf” like they are a coordinated whole, acting in unison.
And while I do believe Blood elves are not High elves, I believe most modern High elves aren’t true High elves either, merely one group adopted a new name to reflect these cultural disparities and the others didn’t.
If VEs get more customizations before anymore thought or care is put into Blood Elves, with Blood Elves being the the core race between the two, that does effect Blood Elves.
But let’s talk about Void Elves for a second. What about the Void Elf fans who want more Void options? Let’s bring them up because where are they in all this. The HE community has had a win. The BE fans don’t feel a win. Do the VE fans feel a win? Why does the attention automatically you feel go back to the HE community that just got something? Why not extend some grace to other groups the same grace you seem to expect.
I’ve not seen that person in that thread either unless it was recently or I missed it. So I don’t know why they are commenting on the validity of the request and claim to be one of its main supporters?
I think Void Elf fans got their “win” when we first got Void Elves. All the current Void Elf customization is void-themed options.
High Elf fans are going to get their “win” when we finally see what we are actually getting. Once we actually get those options and get our “win”, then I’ll be all for focusing on more void-themed options (I have a list of those actually).
Eh. I stand by my argument. The way to get Dark Rangers is to ask for Dark Rangers and to put the time into talking about it.
Not to complain because Alliance Players got what they’ve been lobbying to get for fifteen years.
If people aren’t talking about Dark Ranger containment threads then you’re not really trying.
Looks like rpg customization options to me. Though is it confirmed they’re not just npc options? Anyways I welcome the Silvermoon dancing girls that are incoming and I’m sure someone will enjoy the Silvermoon dancing boys.
I’m gonna stop you right there because this is where you become an anti, because people’s requests for void elf customization has nothing to do with you and your request for blood elf customization, like I told you. Entire they’re mutually exclusive and if you believe bashing another request will get you more on your request, that is the definition of spite.
You don’t see me saying I hope blood elves get less customization, because I frankly don’t care wether or not they do, my only concern is asking for what I want to see, I’m not bothered in trying to stop someone else’s requests.
