I agree, and it does not take much for them to help with immersion - also they should remove all class/race restrictions. It is stupid now after all the interaction have with their own faction. But I will leave that discussion for another thread.
Thatâs a subjective opinion. Not the truth.
I agree, I can easily write a reason for every combination in 1-5 sentences.
Your wish is about to be granted.
I have no considered about their addiction and the void.
Though there are a lot of things about the void that have not been considered - everything in game does not suggest there is ANY reason people should be interested in the Void since it leads to madness.
No where does it suggest it is a more powerful force (presumably equal to the Light). There seem SOME suggestion it is a quicker access to power. But then it is not shown in what VE gain or any class that uses shadow.
If the Void is simply a tool, as Alleria says, then why not just use a safer tool? I feel like they wasted this last patch to not explain better why people might go down the path of the Void
There definitely could be more exposition on the subject of the void and what advantage there is in using it versus other types of magic. It doesnât even need to be a matter of âmore powerfulâ but rather cases of âwhen doing X, the void is a better choice, but when doing Y, the light is a better choice, and when doing Z, arcane is the better choiceâ etc. Hopefully Blizzard wonât wait too long to add such lore and maybe answer a few of these questions.
what happens is that many are seeing void as something bad when it is not, it is simply the other side of the light coin, we will have in due course how light can corrupt, just as there are worlds consumed by void is it is very possible that there are more worlds corrupted by light as we saw in the alternative draenor
The only problem with the elves with the void is that they renounce Sunwell, something that they already do by staying in the alliance does not affect them.
Not being connected to the Sunwell and okay with it seems kinda counter productive to what a âTrue High Elfâ is.
Thatâs my biggest gripe with void elf âloreâ: it demands more explanation but thereâs none. We know almost nothing about void elf motivations or how they deal with the power that is core to their identity. The void elf NPCs talk about an ethos of the void but we donât know anything about it. We know there are more elves seeking them, but we have no clue about their motivations or thoughts. We are supposed to consider them a race but they lack numbers and civilians, and thereâs no reason given for anyone but casters and researchers to join them. In a nutshell, this race has no base to stand on, it feels more like some kind of cult or research group. We know it is a âraceâ because Blizzard says so, not because it makes any sense.
Void Elves are High Elves.
Blood Elves are High Elves.
Quelâdorei is the race.
Blood Elf and Void Elf are political distinctions.
This is objective fact.
Thatâs why Everyone is getting High Elves in SL.
Correction: The Ability to Play Old School High Elves.
Umbricâs motivations were always clear. Another thing is that we donât like them. Umbricâs followers decided to investigate the void as a source of power. As we know, using fel is not everyoneâs liking, Umbric thought that void could be a powerful tool to protect silvermoon, all they did was provide the elves with a different source of power, which romanth does not agree with and exiles them and more when the source of the sun was restored
Thatâs only really true if you want to keep the Alliance High Elves in stasis and never let them evolve beyond what they currently are. Also, given that there was a time that the Sunwell was destroyed, Iâd also say that those Thalassians were all still âtrue High Elvesâ even without being connected to the Sunwell.
Speaking of, during the time that the Sunwell was destroyed, both the Blood Elves and the High Elves were vulnerable. The Blood Elves turned to drawing mana from living things and in some cases fel, while the High Elves had to subsist on any scrap of magic they could draw from items and such to deal with their addiction since the Sunwell was no longer sating it.
And while this is purely my own opinion, it doesnât seem like such a great leap of logic that some, or perhaps even many, High Elves might look at a way to remove that addiction and sever their leash to the Sunwell as a way to liberate themselves from that vulnerability.
Especially in light of their political divisions, there might be some High Elves who donât want to be beholden to Silvermoonâs (and thus the Hordeâs) control of the Sunwell.
Of course that is pure conjecture on my part.
Thatâs why they need to just let the High Elf name die and fade away. Thereâs too much bickering about it.
Trying to get into Blackrock Mountain on Classic PVP servers DOES feel like a scene out of LOTR.
Well doing it as a Gnome is pretty much just asking for it.
Thatâs really up to Blizzard to decide and follow through with. Unfortunately, I get the impression they wonât ever fully do that, if only to keep the option of Alliance High Elves open if they ever decide they want to explore it.
Eh. Itâs more complicated than that. Highborne were Night Elves. They became shorter and paler in their lifetimes due to not being able to access the well of eternity.
But even Highborne wasnât their race.
Quelâdorei is also a group name. Just like Blood Elves and Void Elves⌠and according to the wow encyclopedia the Blood Elves do not consider themselves High Elves.
The race itself is probably most accurately simply âElfâ
Just like Dwarves are Dwarves and Trolls are Trolls despite being Dark Iron or Zandalari. ⌠etc.
Umbricâs motivations are one thing. Having a few followers, OK, no problem. An entire race based on using void, thought, requires a lot more explanation.
