Blizz either doesn’t understand why people were asking for a return of corruption or they are so scared of their “perfect balance” that they are afraid to throw a system out there that could upset that.
Now I can understand a lot of players did not enjoy that proc based damage corruptions were a huge % of their damage. But reintroducing the system (missing half of the corruptions) and making it so that they are only an additional 2-3% is even more flaccid. Honestly, I wish there was a way to turn off the visual proc effects, because it doesn’t matter if it procs or not.
At least in the old system if I got lucky I could actually feel like I sold my soul to the void for real power. Old TD was a dopamine blast because you knew when it hit you were about to blast on an aoe pack. This system is like Xalatath just helped me apply some kinesio tape to my bad shoulder before I go run my m+ dungeons.

2-3% is incredibly generous… Corruption enchants are complete trash and not worth your time. Less than 1% overall damage in 14 keys. Only Blizz can rehash content and make it infinitely worse than it was during BFA.
Wait … who was asking for this?

Didn’t someone figure out that the difference between the lesser and greater enchant is literally 1%?
I think it’s fine. Because not everyone wants to do Visions. Nor should they feel forced to do so.
Lots of rose-colored glasses people who thought it was “fun,” looking back.

Remember way back, when Blizzard would copy other games, but make them legendary?
Now they copy/paste their own content and somehow make it worse.
Cheers
dear god…did they bring back corruption? lol.

it was fun once you got past rng and could buy corruptions direct. cruising at 75 knowing if that shade touched you you were dead on the spot.
Wish they’d do Drizzlewood Coast from Guild Wars 2

We forget that there were more negatives with corruption until we got further into the patch. We had to build up our cloaks to give us more protection from the curse effects, so it made more sense for the power level to be higher. Greater risk = greater rewards. There’s no curse associated with what we got. We shouldn’t get the same lulz level of amusement from it that we did.
Twilight Devastation in BfA could be the top of your damage in all content. I’d rather my main damage come from something related to my character instead of copying as many consumable corruption effects as I could fit without dying.

It is par for the course. The new dev team is cooking something pristine for us. Think about it: undermine(d), horrific visions, corruption… even nightfall.
It is clear Sylvanas is on her way back, just from these words alone.
A lot of people thought the system was a blast. The problem was the initial acquisition rng system was full garbage. Building out versatility or haste or mastery sets gave a level of gear control that the game had rarely seen before (only with the old reforge system) and never seen since.
Going wild with out-of-control power creep is traditionally something they’ve only done for end of expansion patches. It would be too much whiplash to give us the power of the OG corruptions and then strip it all away to ensure Karesh is balanced properly.
I agree which just reinforces my point. This is proof of their problem. Why waste their time on a throw away system that ends at season 3? That is wasted content and branding it as a revisit to corruption is a scam. This is like your mom saying we are going to revisit Disney World and then she takes you to the park down the street with the broken swing and rusty monkey bars.
Honestly? I suspect it’s due to Microsoft/corporate. I bet there’s a mandate from above for more content and faster patch cadence, but rehashing content is all they can manage between the major patches. Their resources aren’t endless and the choice was this, longer droughts, or nothing.
The truth it simple.
People who compete want balance, everyone else…we just want to have fun and if that means ridiculous abilities…then that’s just what it means
I absolutely loved corruptions in BFA, I loved spamming gpie, I loved random 1 shots.
It was extremely fun to me
Some people take this game way too seriously and we miss out on a ton of fun for the sake of “balance” that never truly happens

The absolute best (worst) part about the new corruptions is that they brought back the RNG ones people originally hated and they left behind the stat amps that people loved. Criminal.
