My computer is 5 years old now --cost 2k back then ( in Australia where things arnt as cheap as most places) . The guy who builds my computer ( a business who I have been dealing with for over 20 years and has build me 7 computers ) wont build me a new one because I wont see much improvement over what I have now .
Fill up his shop with huntsman spiders :]
I have a 7700 + GTX 1080, i plan to keep using it until it dies, i really donāt see why you canāt get 5+ years out of each PC.
we disagree on a lot of things-- but not on this
I agree, the graphics now are very good to last for more instead of increasing everything every expansion. While some wonāt mind to keep purchasing PCs, graphics in WoW have never been the strongest selling point.
I hope next expansion does not require an upgrade.
2004 In vanilla I built a computer.
2010 Bought a new laptop, MacBook pro.
2016 Bought an MSI laptop I still play on.
Mine have lasted over 6 years each on average.
Every 2 years is nonsense unless you only by the cheapest possible, which is true for $700.
Same, but 2016. I would get a deep scowl from my wife if I even mentioned buying a new computer.
One thing thatās important is your internet connection. I have Comcast which seems pretty good. If you search on the string āNetwork testsā you will see several products that will tests your ping, download and upload speed to see if thatās the bottleneck.
I can still run WOW on my 2012 Mac Mini running macOS Catalina. It takes a long time to get started but once it does itās not great but OK. I have a new Lenovo SSD which is great but the old one still works.
I built my desktop almost ten years ago for $1,600~, and I have not had a single issue running any game - and I only have a GTX 970.
Replacing your PC every two years? Youāre doing something very wrong there.
We do??
I think Iāve changed comps 3 or 4 times since TBC. And only once was because of the game.
Donāt need a computer each expansion, someone is clearly trying to make money on your back.
But yes upgrading graphic constantly is something bad the game industry tends to do. I do want to agree with OP.
Otherwise, good old FF11 is there for me still.
i know that feeling OP. i used to play MoP back on old my xp computer! then WoD my laptop (which i still own, but now i just watch youtube on), and then on a different computer for legion and bfa, and now this one. i blame the fact that most computers come with an āintegrated graphics cardā that canāt handle gaming. heck, my current one can barely handle WoW right now (i donāt have an ssd, just a bunch of ram) and i dread when they upgrade the game so much i have to get another graphics card just to play it.
now, as for going to consoleā¦ they wonāt do that, cause then theyād be locked-down in how much graphical crap they could do (though honestly, with WoWās artstyle, i donāt see how itād be a problem), and new control-scheme- which iām open to! i meanā¦ iād love another way to play WoW!
but i feel ya OPā¦ i feel ya.
Thereās no reason as for why WoW couldnāt function on console, the controller port is already part of Retail. And consoles can be hooked with a USB mouse and keyboard either way.
Itās not idealistic but if Blizzard would refine it more, itād be doable. 60 FPS is plenty for WoW, and console usually have their own versions. So I donāt see why not.
didānt say itād be impossible! just sayin i canāt see blizz going āokay, weāve got these new graphics we wanna put in the game- oh waitā¦ we have to limit it for the console versionā¦ā.
and to reiterate, iād like WoW on console (if they can figure out how to make the controls feel more natural especially!) but i justā¦ i canāt seeāem doin it.
Console is an ease of access. I think limiting to the PC is something bad on Blizzardās end. Diablo and Overwatch perform better on console than PC nowdays. I have almost no queue time when I play Overwatch on my Switch, and itās great because no microphone. While when I was playing Overwatch on the PC, it was longer waits and constantly people yelling at each other through the microphone.
And I know you didnāt say impossible, just want to mostly vouch the idea that console would also be a great market. It works well for other MMOs. Tera / Neverwinter / Elder Scrolls / Black Desert / Final Fantasy all have consoles versions that seem quite successful on their own.
Oh your post are bad as always.
