Yesterday I got my stimulus, so I ordered parts to build a new computer. I’m going from:
CPU: i5 3330
Graphics: RX 470
RAM: 16GB
To:
CPU: Ryzen5 3600X
Graphics: RX 570
RAM: 32GB
How much of an improvement should I expect in WoW and other games? I know the graphics card isn’t much of an improvement, went cheap on that component for now and can always upgrade later.
Even though you said you went cheap, I suggest not TBH, a RX 5700 would be your better choice
However if you’re still standing on lower end cards, the Rx 5500 xt would be your ideal choice
If I recall correctly, they are both similar in price but the Rx 5500xt is still out performing the Rx 570
RX 570 is also literally an overclock Rx 470
While I have 32 GB of RAM myself for heavy rendering use, it is not needed for WoW for a long time, for any game in general, 16 GB of RAM is still the better choice price wise and long term wise
32 GB if you were to do heavy workloads, sure then it’s justified
Maybe take the money saved from the RAM and put it towards a RX 5700/5600 xt for long term
I didn’t realize they were that similar, but that’s fine for now. Tbh I would have just stuck with my 470 for now except I’m gonna give my current computer to my kids, so I needed another card to use until I can afford something nice.
Here’s a question for when I can afford a better graphics card, are there any high-vram cards you would recommend? In Civilization 6 there’s a ridiculously large custom made earth map I like to play that is very vram intensive, every game I play on that map eventually crashes to desktop, and attempting to load a save at that point also results in a crash to desktop. My 470 has 8gb of vram, the 570 I ordered also only has 8gb, and very few of the cards I see on Newegg or Amazon have more than 8gb.
No I think that’s just the game in general, everyone’s getting fps drops because there’s so much stuff loading on that game as you expand
I don’t play civilization 6 but from what I understand from others that’s the issue, even if you go buy an expensive rtx 2080 ti you’ll still get hit with fps drops
Change to dx 12 to see if anything improves is all I can think of, sorry if this wasn’t enough
