Because if I read another weak “fomo” post I might lose hope for the next generation.
Make items that have been removed from the game tradeable. Open to the AH. Like haunted momentos, for example. Any other limited run item that y’all decide to do.
This maintains their value as collectibles and means that if someone feels motivated enough to try and get one, they are able to.
that’d just result in a runescape party hat situation where said items become grotesquely overpriced due to scarcity.

Probably. Value is dictated by supply and demand. The point is to preserve their value without closing the door entirely on someone who just needs that ebonchill appearance for the perfect mog or whatever.
Some of us already hold onto old items just incase they do become boe.
Like multiple mount drops. I know I have a few sitting in my bank because I refuse to vendor a 1% drop rate mount for 1 copper. Also the slight hope it does become boe and… I… can… make… $$$! Tehe

Or they just add the content back into the game, problen solved. If they just did an injection of pre cata items back then adding a quest chain shouldn’t be a throw to far beyond.
Pretty much the best reason why we shouldn’t do this.
I’d rather they reintroduce the items via events or secrets with the rarer the old collectable the harder the secret (like Lucid Nightmare level).
Good thing I have 4 Invincibles on characters in their bank’s. I’d make massive bank if that ever happens.

So um… How much to just bring you to an arthas kill so I can get one?

No, that devalues the existing collectibles. That’s the whole problem with bringing that stuff back. This change would allow people an Avenue to get the collectible without generating any more of them, thus preserving their value. A win win for both stated goals.
I made all my allied race characters plate users for the heritage armors, then to farm Shadowmourne on them and sell the goodies (Already had it drop the 1st time on my 2nd Shadowmourne run on my DK).
I would have 5 but had to delete one because I got it back to back weeks on my Dark Iron dwarf.
So my tip is, do Shadowmourne on all of your plate users and if it doesn’t drop you get a consolation prize of about 500k worth of goodies at the end per Shadowmourne.

I understand your point but respectfully i disagree with the underlying premise. Collectible value in wow i am sorry to say is borderline relagated to ego and circumstance.
The real win would be a means for players to show off their collections cough player housing cough. If i spent a decade or more collecting pixels it’s no different then those who collect baseball cards but that latter has real value. Pixels in wow have sentimental value sure but allowing players means to get a item we might hold dear for whatever doesnt cheapen it the same way if topps reprinted Mantle’s rookie card.

And money isn’t real and all words are made up, etc. etc. ad absurdum. By asking for it, you admit it’s value. If it were truly without value, we’d never have this conversation. We really don’t need to retread ground here.
This is a rock solid compromise.

You’re delusional if you think wow accounts are still valuable LMAO come on guy there is no value attached to stupid pixels and they’re going to reintroduce all of those non obtainable things to bring back people.
Get over yourself and stop being weird on the internet lol
Yeah, bully me all you want.
Hoping new players miss out on old rewards that mean nothing to no one besides maybe 12 people is much meaner than calling you out for wanting that lol
That’s how collectibles work. You’re entitled to the opinion that collectibles are dumb and nobody should care about them, but they do have value and people do care about them.
