What a surprise, people say “Nty” to his idea and he becomes really passive aggressive real fast.
I swear it’s a certain kind of person that makes these kinds of threads because they end up all playing out the same way in the responses every time lmao.
Not sure what your reading into but besides my response to the comment made by the person that is tired of all these “Tinker” threads yet keeps opening them and reading them, I’ve been open and repsonsive to suggestions.
Maybe your reading too much into something cause I don’t see what you described here
I’m merely tryna keep the discussion on tracks.
As much as I’d rather see Blizz improve on balancing their current classes, I would rather not see bows and guns being used with another class. Would make Hunter feel cheaper.
Turrets would feel a better fit for a class that uses machines. Maybe shoulder mounted ones?
I can respect that sentiment. However, Hvaing so mnay awesome ranged weapons in the game only useable by 2 specs(since SV is melee now) is kinda a waste.
Also, the way I was hoping to get around that is that even though Tinker would equip ranged weapons, it would more or less be a stat stick as all of the attacks would be made fro an animation of them pulling out like Plasma Rifles or Particle Guns and whatever of the such.
Full support, but I would also add mechagnomes, dwarves, dark iron dwarves, orcs, mag’har orcs, draenei, lightforged draenei, blood elves, and nightborne to that race list. Canonically, all of those races have some sort of golem/pilotable mech that is unique to them, and it would be cool to have that visual distinction represented if you choose to play a tinker.
I.e. a draenei “tinker” would effectively be a vigilant.
I thought about this as well. I originally thought Vulpira but they are much too rugged and outdoors feeling to embrace such tech…
Perhaps we could get another Goblin allied race released in the same expansion. We have the Bilgewater Goblins from Kezan in game now but maybe the Booty Bay or South Sea Goblins could be added,
And really in that line of thinking its not such a big deal if Alliance has Mechagomes and Gnomes, as they are really basically the same faction. One is just much more dedicated to body modification.
Ultimately, I’d say either leave it to just Gobs and Gnomes or open it up to all/most races.
the game needs many other things more important than a new class right now, and they all go through a change in internal policy that makes them stop screwing the consumer.
I think the issue with the idea of Tinker is that now a number of races utilize constructs that you could argue should be tinkers in their own fashion.
I don’t think Blizzard will remove engineering. Engineering makes toys/ammo, etc. A class on its own will never create items like that. If anything, Tinkers might get a bonus to engineering or something. At its core, its just a class that does DPS, tank, heal etc. It wont replace, or provide what a profession does.
That being said, 'Im not a fan of Tinker as a class. I like more fantasy based and less tech stuff.
Tinkers would have made sense as a class at release. They went with Engineering instead.
A new class requires the thematic support of the expansion it is introduced in. Do you really believe that Blizzard would be open to an entirely Goblins vs. Gnomes wacky comic relief expansion? I don’t. The Tinker stuff works as a sideshow - the internal logic of the game breaks down when that level of technology takes the spotlight.
Okay, seriously, what’s with the idea that tinkers being playable would affect engineering as a profession at all? There’s barely been any combat viability to anything Engineering provides in years, outside of the occasional rocket and bomb that can add a tiny bit of damage, sometimes. The class would be built around doing damage, not all the gimmicky tools that Engineering provides outside of maybe one or two movement abilities.
