So, at the moment warlocks have a quest line to change all of their fire spells into fel (green) fire. This kind of thing, basically a glyph effect but something that effects the class as a whole rather than just one ability, is really cool for customizing your character appearance without altering gameplay, and I think there’s several spots it could be applied to other classes.
Here’s what I’d like to see added:
Druid: Druids of the Flame
In legion, these were the druids who, under fandral staghelm, joined ragnaros and were given flame-based abilities. Undertaking the quest to become a druid of the flame would alter the following:
Balance Spells - Moonfire, Lunar Strike, Starsurge, Starfall, Fury of Elune, Stellar Flare, etc. would all be changed to fire effects.
Forms - Flight form would be changed to the phoenix-style form used by fandral staghelm and other druids of the flame in hyjal/firelands. Cat form would take on the flaming cat appearance that you can currently only obtain with the toy drop from fandral in firelands. Bear and moonkin would need similar new fiery-stylized forms. Treant form could be a charred/smoldering tree.
Other spells - Roots would become Smoldering roots, which is often used by druids of the flame against the player in hyjal/firelands encounters. All of the restoration/healing spells could become more yellow/red colored, like fall/autum shades of leaves rather than green.
Mage: Frostfire
Mages used to have frostfire bolt, which was a cool looking spell that mixed fire and frost effects into one spellcast. A frostfire training quest for mages could apply to either frost spells, fire spells, or both - IMO it’d probably be best to go with frost spells being altered if only one can be done. All frost spells would have fiery effects mixed into their graphics, including frostbolt, ice lance, cone of cold, frost nova, glacial spike, ray of frost, comets, ebon bolt, flurry, ice barrier, ice block, etc.
Shaman: Earthwarden
This one would be a bit less drastic of a change, but would fit well for some races like dwarves/dark iron dwarves and anyone who wants to focus more on the earth element, which I feel is a bit underutilized in shaman abilities. The earthen ring could offer the questline, and the changes would be as follows:
Lightning Spells - would all be changed to earth effects and receive new names. Lightning bolt (->Stonefist) would instead fire a spike of stone at the target. Chain lightning (->Stone Shards) would erupt stone spikes from the ground underneath effected targets. Thunderstorm (->Eruption) would upheave chunks of earth around your feet to blast back enemies.
Ghost wolf - would be changed to ‘Burrow’, causing the shaman to burrow through the ground with the same visual effect many mobs/enemies/bosses use when tunneling.
Shaman: Tidesage
In a similar manner to the above, this would be for shamans who want to focus more on the water element, and could be offered via a kul tiran quest line for alliance and possibly from a captured/imprisoned tidesage for the horde side. Rather than changing the lightning spells as above (which kinda make sense already for tidesages, since storms arent too thematically separate from the seas), this would change the earth/fire based abilities to become water (or ice) based.
Spell Changes - Flame shock, lava burst, Earth shock, earthquake, Fire Elemental, Earth Elemental, Rockbiter, Flametongue, Lava Lash, so on and so forth would all receive ice or water style animations. Most fire spells could change to water (and fire elemental to water elemental), while the earth spells could be changed to ice (and earth elemental to ice elemental). Because damage types cannot change, perhaps the fire spells using some kind of steam/boiling water effects would be more appropriate, and set them apart from the healing abilities?
Priest: Priestess of Elune
Again, not sure how horde would pick this one up, but it seems to be one of the most recognizable subgroups of priests in the game.
The idea with this one would be to change all of the bright yellow holy spells into a silvery-white color more representative of elune’s moonlight than holy light. This would apply for both holy and discipline specializations, and be a general palette change for all holy spells.
Demon Hunter
This is just a little half-thought tacked on here, but I thought it was kinda cool when illidan was ‘purified’ by the naaru. I’m not sure exactly how this one would work out, but having all of the fel/demon based abilities being replaced by purified/holy/light abilities would be interesting.
