There are only a few classes that can change specializations into each of the ‘Trinity’ specs. Only one of these (Druid) can spec into Tank / Healer / Ranged DPS.
I would very much like to see a second Class choice which can specialize into all three of the ‘Trinity’ specs, and which includes Ranged Spell Damage. As World Of Warcraft becomes more expansive and complex, it makes sense (now more than ever before) to introduce another class (perhaps Shadowflame based?) that can cover each of the ‘Trinity’ specs.
Paladin - Tank / Healer / Melee
Monk - Tank / Healer / Melee
Druid - Tank / Healer / Melee / -Ranged-
Druid is the only Trinity Class choice with a Ranged option.
Thanks!
Why a new class when you can make a new spec? Yet again I say give DK a true necromancer spec

Yeah I’m with you on this. I’m always drawn to Druid becuase of the ranged dps spec with a tank off-spec, but I don’t really like Druid.
Would love to see a Tinker class (with a better name though) that had a ranged dps spec along with tank and heals.
Or Paladin a ranged holy damage spec. I know it would make more sense for a priest to get that but Paladin would be awesome.
They should just improve alt gearing and catch up. ATM it’s just pain to switch the class after you beat the game with your main
The point I was trying to make (not well, I admit) was that players now spend so much of their gametime trying to level gear and especially professions, that reaching high levels of play for more than one Character requires far more time than it used to take. Having a good variety of Class choices that enable players to experience each of the Trinity styles of gameplay would be a great benefit to all players, as it would allow them to better focus their gametime spent on continual linear progression, rather than forcing players to split time amongst Alts.
Adding a fourth spec (Ranged DPS) to Paladin or Monk would also work. Most Tank Classes also could be given a Healing spec, but for some it doesn’t really make much sense (I’m lookin’ at you, Warrior).

A second tank/ranged class would be cool since like you said we only have Druids.
Or maybe evokers or shamans get a tank spec.
There was a joke years ago about what a “healing” spec for Warriors would look like. It’s been so long that I don’t think the website is even around anymore nor can I remember what it was called. But I can still picture the image of a warrior holding a caduceus with ridiculous abilities like: Healing Shout - “Shout at that pansy Mage to quit crying and get back to DPS’ing!”

More classes for bloat and for blizz to not balance around.
They could give DK a necro spec
They could also give Shaman a Tank spec, which they should have been done FOREVER ago.
I think the more classes that get a tank spec the better. That could bring about more tanks.
If they add Tinker at some point it could work. Like mechazord tank spec and rockets and stuff for rdps. The only issue with Tinker I have is I feel like if it did happen it is far more likely to have “support” as a spec over true rdps (if they don’t get both like Evoker) as Blizz says they would be adding new specs to fill the role over reworking others.

Our current best option for this is delete Aug and make it the tank spec it deserved to be.
Tinker would be the next best option. They honestly have enough material to draw inspiration from that they could have all 4 roles. Full mech for a tank, goblin shredder backpack for mDPS, gun wielding with turrets and lazers for rDPS, and something inspired by the old goblin alchemist hero for healer since it was a goblin riding around on a “flesh mech” lol.

Class: raises the dead to fight for them as minions
Players: “That’s not a real necromancer.”
It’s almost there, but not quite. I play unholy because it’s the closest we have, but something akin to summoning weak skeletons, harvesting them, and creating stronger ones to maintain (super tldr of a Necro fix I read on ESO that I am stealing) would fit that fantasy more without stepping on the toes of demonology.
If unholy got more pets and became the melee demo I’d be okay, too. Tbh both unholy and frost really need a rework.

I specifically said for DK because, you’re right, it is the necromancer class. It just lacks nearly all the classic warcraft necromancer fantasy.
Evoker should have been one of them.

I replayed WC3 recently and tbh I’d have to disagree. What is the classic warcraft necromancer fantasy to you?
Basically what they did to demonology, but with undead
shadow caster with minions. Which means it’s never going to happen unless Blizzard really snaps with class skins.
I was really hoping Evoker was gonna be one of these, and I haven’t quite gotten over that it isn’t.
if anything, the Dungeon finder/ comp should now be Tank/Heals/2 DPS/DPS-or-support
to avoid over stacking support classes in que dungeon content.
still, let players roll 4 support and 1 tank if they want to do it manually
Unholy has the visual theme but none of the usual gameplay style of a necromancer class, which is always minion-focused. Unholy is more like a melee affliction warlock than anything.
Demonology Warlock has a classic necromancer playstyle, summoning hordes of minions, sacrificing some of those minions as a direct attack or to empower other minions, etc. If Necromancer never becomes a fully fledged class or spec, Demo warlock getting a complete reskin as an option would be the best choice. Warlocks in general already dabble in necromancy and other death-related magic lorewise, so it wouldn’t be out of place for some of them to lean into it more heavily, emulating the Necrolytes which were a kind of warlock that eventually became the first death knights.
