New Class Idea: Necromancer

I’m throwing a random idea out there: Necromancer.

After you kill a player or NPC, you bring it back to life and it stays with you with no timer. The class starts off weak but gains more power by raising the dead at full HP and full use of abilities. Perhaps it can control 5 dead players/npcs/monsters/beasts at a time?

So, say you’re in a battleground and you or your team kill a warrior and a priest. You can raise the dead, and now you have that warrior at full hp killing for you and a priest with full hp healing you lol.

Or is this too similar to Death Knight/Warlock?

What are some of your new class ideas? And how soon do you expect a new class? In the expansion after Shadowlands?

I don’t expect a new class any time soon tbh.

I feel like Legion was the last expansion to introduce a new class. Plus I don’t think we need another one when they can do so much with the current 12 we have.

i want the necromancer just to make all the warlocks rage due to an identity crisis.

I think a blood mage could be cool. We have one spec for death knights, but no caster counterpart and blood magic is a school otherwise pretty untouched by us. Our enemies use it a lot though. Could have at least two specs, a DPS and some kind of blood healer.

It’ll probably be awhile till the next class. It depends on the story and if there’s a class that really jumps out at it. Could be next expansion or another future one.

No more classes, Blizzard can’t even balance what we already have, adding more means creating more dead specs among other issues.

I say we should get loads more classes. Blizzard can’t balance what we already have, so adding more shouldn’t be any problem at all.

Rift had a lot of cool class concepts that could be brought over.

I’d love to see a true void class. Either mail or plate void cultist or voidweaver. Using curses, void magics, summoning void beings.

Ok that sounds fun but OP, id like a musician/dancer class that specialised in giving buffs like old swg entertainers did… and let them do some combat too i guess so they dont feel left out.

Not too similar to me (that’s like saying a Priest and Paladin is the same thing) but definitely too similar to a Warlock. IIRC, necros were the original third cloth class in WoW but Blizzard changed their mind because they didn’t want to be a carbon copy of EverQuest. They even left some of the necro spells with Warlocks. Life Tap is a carry over from EQ and their necros.

Side note: Life Tap was much cooler in EQ because you could kill yourself. Blizzard never let us go below 1hp :rage:

Lifetap to 1hp then use the warlock AOE that causes fire dmg to everyone around you and yourself.

That could work. Vanguard: Saga of Heroes had a Healer class called Blood Mage. It had some interesting techniques. If I remember right they were a bit similar to Discipline Priests in a way, gather Blood away from the enemy to heal their targets.

Personally, I would call it a “Flesh” spec for a reason I’ll get to in a minute.

Honestly, I don’t like it because it has too much power. I’d rather they be closer to the Necromancers of Warcraft 3, summoning skeletons for a short period. Offensively, they’d be akin to Dark Age of Camelot’s Theurgist who use temporary pets (20s-30s life span) for their damage.

It would be a Cloth-wearing DPS/Healer class. One of the DPS specs would be Bone, and focus on numerous summoning abilities. The other would be Flesh and focus on Hots and Bone Armor-style ablative abilities.

It would be interesting to borrow an old skill of Death Knights when they could resurrect players as zombies. Adding this as a kind of way to do for other players the way Holy Priests can forestall their defeat as an angel could be interesting as well.

Aside from the Necromancer concept above, Wardens could be interesting. Make them a Mail-wearing class and provide stealth DPS and Tank specs. It’s a little lower in priority for me because we already have so many of those right now (though Mail could use more representation).

You realize Diablo is a blizzard franchise. And necromancers feature heavily in Diablo

No new classes. Bad enough we had DH come in and take from warlock / WW / Gdruid + BDK. There was no room for DH and yet blizzard still did it.

New, huh.

What you dont think wow needed another leather wearing, high mobile, melee dps/tank class ? Blasphemy

Easy.

Tinker
~A mixture of play-styles of Shaman, Monk & Hunter involving mini mechanical turrets. Can be all three roles, Tank, DPS & Healer.

Primary Weapon: Gun or Crossbow (Not Bows)
Armor Type: Mail

An idea, I’m unsure of:

  • Only playable via Gnomes, Mechagnomes and Goblins.

Lore wise (kinda) this makes sense, game-play wise it doesn’t as the Tinker would borrow a decent amount from the Engineer profession and that profession is available to everyone.

That would be my preferred, but I understand them being hesitant on adding more classes.

People called me crazy when I said DHs would limit the design space of monks…
How are the monk forums looking right now?

Funny people said the same about feral when monks were announced

Just cluster$%^& of choices for new classes

It’ll be the DH/warlock rage all over again, except with necromancer/DK. We’ll watch half of DK spells get taken off of them.
