New characters forced to do Freehold/BFA stuff?

So my friend just got WoW and we wanted to all quest together in her starting area however since she’s never had an account until now her boyfriend is saying it won’t let her leave BFA areas until level 50. Is this true? If so no wonder no one new will join, they don’t get to go to the racial starting areas or explore the massive world until it doesn’t matter anymore. Is there any way to get around this? I would love any info or help on this matter.

Once she gets through Exile’s Reach she will have the option on any new character to either repeat ER or complete the racial starting area. ER is great at teaching the game basics to a new player.

After reaching level 10, new players are funneled to BFA content. They do not have access to Chromie Time until level they reach level 50 on their first character. They can opt to do other zones outside of CT, however I believe they might be limited on dungeons. Non BFA zones will no scale according to level (EK & Kalimdor to 20, BC to 25, WotLK to 30, Cata to 35, etc).

The easiest way now is to level completely through BFA, then level alts through each of the expansions. You’ll out level zones very quickly with how leveling is structured now.

Have her run through exiles reach and then the first few quests in BFA up to the point she is shown the portals to SW or Org.

She can then take the portal back to her faction capitol and go to any zones she wants.

Individual zones will have their own leveling ranges - e.g. some are 1-30, some are 30-40, etc. Mobs in those zones will scale too your level, within the level range of the zone. Hovering over a zone on the continent map will display the level range.
