Not saying that you must play there. Just some simple census data that really shows how a vast majority of players flocked to it.
A quick browse on the AH vs my home realm and the differrence is very large.
Anyways I found that interesting.

Time and time again the sheep flock to the bandwagon and people protect their own self interests. The same few people on the forums begging for people to come to their server and portraying doom and gloom. Its weird that so many servers on classic had fine populations but apparently only one on SoM can have a healthy population? Seemsweirdman.

This server population fear mongering crap is a joke. Could not pay me to roll on Jom.
You donât need an over capacity 24/7 server for the game to function properly.
I see Jom as the catch-all for all the negative behavior you find in game whereas my server feels like vanilla in a time machine from the past. Obviously every server will have people you donât like but Jom specifically attracts the most obnoxious neckbeard players and they seriously ruin the game for me. Community is huge in wow.

Why are full servers bad??? They imitate nostalrius and nostalrius was a blast
The positive about a high pop server is you can play all night on it and all day no matter what time zone youâre in and you can also twink on it
The downside is levelling when there arenât enough mobs but you can level on another server and transfer for fun

Full servers are bad simply due to the crowd of players they attract. If people would just play the game organically, each server would develop its own unique flavor. With everyone scaring everyone into rolling on to one server, you inevitably get the majority of the tryhard playerbase that is actually afraid of the boogeyman that is nonexistent in vanilla.
Due to Jom being pushed so hard by the internet tryhard gamer (toxic) community, you lose any flavor that could have developed in the server. Youâre flooded with like-minded players that want to tryhard and play retail in a vanilla setting. This is perfectly fine for those players but not for me, I play old school.
I canât get away from the Jom community fast enough. Itâs a boon that they all congregated on Jom so the other servers have almost zero neckbeard meta slaving the fun out of the game.

Barman Shankar is alive and well. More than enough players to do anything you want to do and at times there are too many. Jom must be a ship show for questing unless itâs layered heavily.

Move along its not the server its the game you play. There are toxic players on your server too just not as many because of less people total. Its how this works.
I disagree here. I play on Barman and tried to do Ulda and ZF outside of prime time hours and it was not happening. The server is fine though it does have players everywhere, but if you cannot get a group together within a few hours it sucks thats all.
EDIT: I think this topic is a little important considering the dead servers that came out of classic not too long after launch. Play where you want.

I chose to roll on Barman (or really anything but Jom) because my overall experience will be much better for most of the 12 months. Maybe ill xfer to Jom at some point during AQ/Naxx, but only if the pop dies out on Barman. I look at it like paying 30$ for around 8 months of non toxic community. You cant do server xfer in pserver community and that is the big advantage that blizzard offers.

A higher population is going to naturally have more ninja looters which naturally means more toxicity. Its the price you pay but itâs worth the fun. Griefing can be fun. Sad but true.

At the start of Toyhouzes video he states the following:
âLook at the ratio rather not the numbers, the actual server population numbers are probably much higher if I were to run it over a 24-48 hour period. Number 2 this is not true for Jom Gabbar, this vs the server Iâm actually playing on so I ran the Census multiple times so DONT LOOK AT THOSE EXACT NUMBERS TRY TO PAY ATTENTION THE RATIOSâ
To anyone who doesnât know the Census number just adds up new players found so running it multiple times makes a huge difference on server pop.
Yet the OP didnât pay any attention to this and no response calls him out on that, everyone just goes along wIth an incorrect statement. Itâs amazing.
Jom clearly has the highest pop but stating that it is higher than the rest of the servers combined is flat out wrong.
As for the best servers I would have rolled on Jom due to the nightmare that happened to the TBCC servers. However, my friends didnât want to go to Jom based on what they heard about the toxic environment so I didnât go there. I can walk away fine. I already did everything I wanted in Classic so itâs whatever.
What I can say is that I first rolled on Herod and hated the environment. It was known for having all the âEdgelordâ pserver players too. Taking the free transfer to Earthfury gave me a much better two-year experience and doing so was the best WoW decision I ever made. So itâs kind of crazy to me that people say that servers are all the same and donât have an atmosphere. However, I guess these are the same people that believe incorrect statements made by randoms so they probably donât pay attention to much of anything outside of getting whatever loot they are after to whatever.
