New Caverns of Time Dungeon(s) Idea: The Paradox

Setting: The Caverns of Time
Story: The world begins to settle in the wake of the defeat of the Old God N’zoth… But the fabric of time itself begins to warp in the mind of Nozdormu, who suffers in a deep slumber from a mind-shattering nightmare; Adventurers are sent along with Chromie to investigate the Timeless One’s aching and are subsequently dragged into an anomaly known simply as the Paradox. Throughout time, a clear path of destiny was arranged, but the deviate Infinite Dragonflight has shattered the halls of time. It is up to Chromie and a small group of adventurers to piece together reality and defeat the alternate histories from collapsing in on itself.

Paradox 1: Lordaeron

Bosses:

Lord Aiden Perenholde
One of King Blackmoore’s most fervent supporters, Perenholde gave Blackmoore the direct path and supplies he needed to overthrow the Menethil dynasty. Now he stands as Lord-Protector of Alterac and Hillsbrad, Blackmoore’s former homeland.

High Priest Alexandros Mograine
After his predecessor Alonsus Faol unexpectedly fell ill, this faithful servant took up the mantle of High Priest of the Church of the Holy Light. He is a protector of the crown of Lordaeron and will lay down his life, no matter who the king may be.

The War Council

High-General Abbendis
General Othmar Garithos
Lieutenant Kargath Bladefist
When King Blackmoore had slew Orgrim Doomhammer at Blackrock Mountain, he gave orcs a choice: Join his private army or die. Lords Garithos and Abbendis took up the call when King Menethil had died and now serve on the war council under the banner of House Blackmoore.

Council of Six

The Six:
Kel’Thuzad, obviously
Helcular
Alchemist Putress
Ner’zhul of the Steppes
Archmage Gandling
Spellweaver Faerlina
After a great coup in the politics of the magocracy of Dalaran, Kel’Thuzad leads a subservient council of six in service to King Blackmoore of Lordaeron.

Sicco Thermaplugg
In an uneasy pact between the gnomes, dwarves, and humans, the famed engineer Sicco Thermaplugg works tirelessly to advance King Blackmoore’s military weaponry, for his continued campaigns towards Gilneas, Silvermoon, and Stormwind.

King Aedelas Blackmoore
In a fractured reality where Thrall died as a baby, this drunken lesser lord arose to become of the most powerful individuals in all of Lordaeron, even defeating Orgrim Doomhammer in combat. Now he reigns over the former lands of the Menethils as Regent and King, and no one will stand in his way. (spoilers: it ends with Aedelas being stolen away by the infinite Dragonflight.)

Irosimord
The Echo of Infinity, Kairozdormu, steals King Adaelas Blackmoore for his future master, Murozond, to send after Thrall during the Hour of Twilight, and leaves Murozond’s Prime Mate to fight adventurers in his place.

This was based on the infinite dragonflight’s timeline created to stop Thrall during the book “Twilight of the Aspects”.

Paradox 2: Crossroads

Shattered in the paradox, the Crossroads lead to many paths the Horde had never encountered, and players must defeat the alternate realities before Kairozdormu can combine his infinite armies into one reality.

Magatha Grimtotem
After Baine had fallen at the Battle for Thunder Bluff, the great crone of the Grimtotems ascended to the seat of High Chieftan of the Bluff and stands ready to crush all who oppose her will.

Bloodlord Zalazane
The mighty witchdoctor, having conquered the Echo Isles and most of the barren lands across Kalimdor, serves faithfully in service to the Blood God, G’huun.

Blademaster Olgra
After the death of her beloved husband Mankrik, Olgra has taken it upon herself to lay siege to the infinite armies of quillboars from the Razorfen (this is a gauntlet fight, where you protect Mankrik’s wife in the infinite Barrens).

Rhonin Redbeard/Daelin Proudmoore
After the infinite sacking of Theramore, the two men who failed to protect Jaina Proudmoore from her out-of-timely deaths seek vengeance against the horde.

Flame-Druid Naralex
After the burning of Mount Hyjal, the druid Naralex submitted to the eternal flames of Ragnaros, and now serves as a torchbearer in Ragnaros’ campaign to engulf the world in flames.

Aratas, the High Khan
Having reunited the 5 warring centaur clans, the centaur khan Aratas successfully conquered Southern Kalimdor, stands ready to face any champions who dare to challenge his titanic might (he’d be assisted by the elemental he calls “father” in this fight)

Anachronos the Time-Lost
Corrupted by the Echo of Kairozdormu, Anarchronos fell to the infinite blight in this fragment of the paradox. Adventurers must put him down before he is made real, corrupting the Anachronos of the true timeline.

This dungeon is more for the sake of “What if?”, but I think it does raise some interesting counterfactuals that could make for some fun boss fights.

Paradox 3: The Flashpoint of Murozond

At the heart of the Paradox is the source corrupting Nozdormu’s nightmares-- A rip in the fabric of space-time caused by the Echo of Kairozdormu. here, the remaining followers of Bronze attempt to repair the fabric, but are disrupted by the infinite forces, and unforeseen anomalies.

The Watchers

Baristolth of the Shifting Sands
Johnathan the Revelator
Xarantaur, the Witness
Ralo’shan, the Eternal Watcher
Granted the boon of immortality by Nozdormu during the War of the Shifting Sands, these mortals were tasked with watching, recording, and maintaining the histories of the timeways. Now, as time itself comes under assault, they stand to defend the Timeless One from any who would pose a threat to him… Though, they are misguided and tricked into thinking it was Chronormu and her band of adventurers who had betrayed Nozdormu.

Echos of Chronormu
Trapped in a temporal shattering spell, Chromie is shattered into eight echos of herself, which must be realigned before she can continue on her path to prevent the flashpoint of Murozond.

The Magistrix Anomaly
In the middle of the flashpoint, an echo of Grand Magistrix Elisande appears, and fades in and out of time; without notice, she is weakening the fabric of reality around her. She must be stopped in order to save space-time itself!

Salandria/Dornaa
Veterans of the Time Wars, these two have been under watch by the Bronze Dragonflight since they were children. Now, with great experience and even greater powers, these two have for one reason or another sided with the Infinite Dragonflight. They stand ready to fight for the Infinites’ cause.

Echo of Kairozdormu
The time-lost echo, while thought destroyed in our reality, has survived in infinite alternatives. Now, he who had died failing to achieve his goals seeks to bend reality to finally complete what was always destined: The creation of the Infinite.

I just thought these would be a fun idea for Infinite-themed dungeons, but I’ll be content with whatever Blizz brings to the game  Feel free to comment, criticize, etc. any ideas you guys might have based on this!

I’m down for anything chromie related.

Sounds fine but i for one is tired of blizzard time travel.

Uh absolutely not? Onyxia is not gonna be subservient to any human. Pick someone from scholomance if you can’t think of a mage who would fit. Darkmaster would be a cool addition.

I completely forgot Gandling; that’s a great idea! I threw in Onyxia because I was considering the counterfactuals about how the Perenholdes never fell, so the Prestor flight is still involving itself with Lordaeron politics. I prefer yours better!

I’ve been thinking that an expansion that uses the Caverns of Time as the main capital hub might be fun. Have the theme be a time war against the Infinite Dragonflight. Each zone in the expansion is actually a pocket of Warcraft History, maybe a part of Kalimdor before the Sundering, Argus just before Sargeras arrives, Uldum when it was still a jungle, Ka’resh before the Void Lords, Draenor but focused on Faralohn. Something like that.
