The new candle mechanics in the kobold delve feels worse than the previous version to me. The candle should have some light to it while holding it - even if the range could be more limited. The new method feels very clunky as it is now.
I liked it mostly. I like that you can save em up, pick them back up, and plop multiple down, but they do lose out between rooms. The system is great in the rooms though.
I suppose it is pretty good in the room itself but moving is clunky when you need to pick it up and relocate.
Hundred percent. Running through hallways and such I ended up just eating the poison since it didn’t do much on the 8 that I was on, but I expect that on higher levels it has much more teeth. Not sure what else you can do though. I guess drop them and leave them and try to stockpile, but that seems a waste. Maybe drop them when the poison starts getting bad for a break, then pick it up and repeat. That also feels clunky, though.
It was also a little weird when running back after dying. Extra long stretch of all the weirdness I described above.
I agree. Trying to manage candles in a fast pace delve is not fun. I would say just make a 15 sec timer and let them only last 2 minutes or something but pick up and putting down sucks.
I’m not sure if it’s better or worse, but I found out that I basically act like a hoarder. Every time I leave an area, I pick up the candle. When I finally get to the end,I have like 8 to put in the boss room.
