New Campsites features need serious polish

Why can’t I right click on a character box and select which campsite to put it into? Why do I have to drag it vertically? I have a LOT of characters, and this is just like something that was web designed 20 years ago.

Also, when filtering, why don’t the campsite groups that already exist stay listed? It’s just such a pain to add characters to campsite groups, and you’d think they could implement this better.

I put my 2 mains in one group at the top.
1 alt in a second group alone.
Everything else can die alone with no group I don’t even see them in the list anymore, best feature.

I made the assumption that the campsite thing was purely cosmetic. Sounds like it has more features than I was giving Blizzard credit for. Will have to play around with it later on.

My only minor annoyance is if you do a search like, “hunter” or “horde” the campsites vanish, so you can’t just drag and drop your characters from your searched list into the campsites.
I also agree the dragging and dropping is annoying, but I’ll deal.

I have close to 60 toons and I dont use this feature.

I’m curious why on the original campfire setting, the characters are pretty close up, but on the new campsite the space seems zoomed out and my characters seem further away from the screen.

Is that just because of my ultrawide monitor resolution or did they mess up the zoom on the newer campsites?

I hate that the empty slots stay there. I can’t seem to move the camps around either.

I just gave up on the whole thing and said screw it.

yeah it would be nice if when you are searching the campsites stay. Would make it far more easy to organize. Right now I’m grouping them by class, just to make it easier to find everyone without having to scroll (which is such a terrible way).

Monk

Group B:
DH
Druid
Mage
Priest

Group C:

Awesome new feature! The actual usage of the UI is awful though.

Hide empty slots, seriously.

Right click toon to move into campsites? Nope, gotta scroll, scroll, scroll, drag, drop AND click or it resets back to original position.

I just made 5 camps and filled them. THEN I discover I can’t change order of the camps and the only way to fix it is to delete and repeat the entire annoying process, yeesh:/

The character list should have an option to hide until you mouseover it. The toggle is another annoying awkward step that shouldn’t be necessary. Having it up all the time ruins the “camp” feel completely. It’s just a different background with a needlessly awkward character list.

I really love the idea but after my experience this morning I’m not gonna bother with it unless they fix it or a decent addon to fix it comes out. Thanks but no thanks.

You know what would be kinda nice? If a campside is not full (aka: less than four there), the characters would center themselves on the screen. Yes, a tiny thing, but I have one group with three characters and the empty spot is annoying.

So far, I like the idea. Polish would be nice. And maybe larger group sizes too? Instead of four, maybe six? Have some hang around the back of the screen or something idk… Maybe some more idle animations, not just “attack” and “kneel” poses?

(The update to campsites angered the graphics driver gods— just wanted to let anyone who needs to know this: you will no longer have to log in to nvidia (:dracthyr_no1: :dracthyr_no2:) if you download the app to your laptop. Bye bye irritation!)

100% This.

What other features does it have besides cosmetic?

@radalpho
Poorly executed organization and character grouping. Examples, having a camp with all your bankers, another for all your hunters, another for all your gathers etc.

The idea is great, the implementation is not.

Right? You can drag the characters, why not the groups? Seems such a massive oversight.

Evidently it exposed the ability to create more than two groups of characters (favorites, non-favorites), which is something i could take advantage of. I can group all my Alliance lowbies together, all my 80s together, etc. Presumably it would come with remembering which groups are collapsed and such. Would clean up giant character lists rather well, I think. Then again, I haven’t gone messing with it yet.

I’m liking the ability to make more groups, but my brain is just not organized enough to make groups in a logical order so now it’s a mishmash since you can’t move the groups in the order.

I don’t have the energy yet to rename the groups and rearrange my alts again yet

Still! More organization is a good thing!

You can only have 4 characters per campsite so that makes the grouping very limited. I currently have 7 80’s I play regularly. It would be nice if they could all be in one camp. There’s lots of room on the “campsite” onscreen to display 6-8 toons if some were in the background. I don’t need them all to be lined up neatly at the front of the screen.
Maybe someone is leaning on a crate or tree, or lounging in a chair in the background?

lol they locked them behind achievements?

Even getting time out of people for the login screen. That’s hilarious.
