The new AH is great. It’s so much faster than before and I love it. The change to the mailbox size/refresh rate that came with it is even better.
I like the way it works as far as buying however many of what you need (it works the same way in Rift and is a pretty good system.
My question is about the last in first out bit. as I understand it this means that to sell ANTHING I need to be one of the last posters. does that mean we need to constantly cancel and relist?
new AH = aite aite
old AH = aite aite (with TSM)
You know, if I had to update the AH the only thing I would have done was changed the lookup query for items to restrict them to their maximum stack size. That way even if you did post thousands of under stacked items they’d never show and nothing else would have changed.
The AH is an improvement, and once Blizz gets the bugs out, it will be a great thing.
We get it, change is hard, but times change.
There’s no way to figure out what a reasonable median price is between the gougers and the dumpers. Even when I list at the market price, nothing sells. I actually have no idea how to make gold anymore and don’t see any point in playing since I’ll never get the cool mounts. I haven’t even gotten the spider, yet. I’m definitely not playing just to do dailies and level artifacts.
The main thing I dislike about the new Auction house is the fact that it now only lists the Item level instead of the level needed to use the item. If you are leveling up it is especially irritating to purchase an item only to discover that you can’t use it for a few more levels.
Also, it doesn’t tend to remember the last item you searched for, making you re-enter each time. I’m going to have to totally re-work my auctioning system.
As far as determining sell price, you can still see the total number being sold at what price. The only real way to determine “reasonable market price” is to put stuff up for sale and see what happens. It is really a myth that there is some objective “reasonable market price” that you can determine simply by looking at current auctions. You do not know what is “reasonable” until you have a price history. “reasonable market price” also can fluctuate wildly, so you basically need to use trial and error. If you are worried about pricing too low, start with a high price and then reduce it if it doesn’t sell.
I like it, in theory. But obviously, there’s some major bugs that needed addressed before release. If it wasn’t ready for the patch, they should have put it in as a hotfix later.
Too many people getting free subs / xpacs playing the AH.
Cant have that.
Yes, they got this part exactly backwards. There is no way LIFO should be preferable to FIFO in this design…it penalizes the first person to list at a price people are willing to pay and that’s not right.
Except they get more money that way. Instead of $15/month (or less depending on if you have a longer sub), they get $20 every time someone buys a token to sell.
If people have to “read” a manual in order to use the AH, then there is a problem with the AH.
My biggest complaint is the fact that I cannot see who I am buying from.
I do not like to buy from gold farmers, I’d rather my gold go to people who do not spend their entire wow experience buying up cheap stuff on the AH and selling it. I can’t do this anymore.
Why is it terrible for you?
No. Functionally, nothing has changed. People who post after you will sell before you, just like before. The only difference is that it used to cost them 1 copper to undercut you and now the AH doesn’t even use copper. Play the AH exactly like you always have.
I’m playing with Norganna’s beta of Auctioneer add on, for 8.3. It seems pretty spiffy, except I have to scan a lot more with it for new info (old price/selling info is not in it, suggestion is to scan once an hour for five hours or something. )
But I’m pretty positive about it. The scan is actually SUPER FAST now, so things have improved somewhat with the AH update. My guess is we’ll have add ons that give us good AH utility, like we used to have, soonish.
Also, shouldn’t the " Chubbechaser" be the person who is after YOU? Tee hee, giggle!
click on the item… you can see the “full” details of the item, including the level required to equip it.
dude… go chew on some rocks and calm down.
this wasn’t an issue of snowflakes, or a matter of a finger nap (whatever that is)
people have been asking for an AH overhaul for YEARS.
change is scary… but you’ll get over it.
Say I want the xpac for $120, I buy 8 token. Blizzard makes $40 I save $120, net loss $80?
I nabbed the almost non-existant Legion BOE dungeon pants that are around 200-500k for 20g. I nabbed a 20k vanilla chest for 20g.
Apparently the new AH suggests prices to you? I used to use CollectionShop addon and for months I never found any BOEs I needed under 1k g.
For the last week I’ve been buying all these appearances cheap. I feel bad for the suckers listing them for just above vendor price.
This new AH is worse in every way EXCEPT for soccermom casuals without a basic AH addon. LIFO is terrible. The commodities system is terrible. The 48 hour limit being left unchanged is terrible.
A competent videogame company would’ve made listings last a month and added buy orders. That and a general speeding up with new code was all the AH needed.
8 tokens at $20 each (as that is what each one costs in real life money to buy from the shop). They made $160.
