Locate small, unique and artistically impressive areas throughout all expansions (even non-pvp areas) and turn them into new arena maps.
(a) the models already exist, so creating new maps should be fairly cost-effective, (b) one criteria when selecting new map-areas could be to ensure that they align to the general principles of the current ones (( aka pillars, open spaces, elevated aspects )), (c) the idea aligns to WoW’s general principle of “recycle old content”…
…(d) the idea allows us, the players… to experience regular new maps that could include some unique settings (( such as a portion of a capital city or various raids )), (e) the idea could create community involvement, either through asking players for good areas/zones… all the way to asking us to vote on various options, (d) (( …players could ‘opt out’ of the new maps by selecting ‘traditional maps’ or something, if they do not like the idea… ))
^I feel like introducing new maps is a viable way to keep things interesting and as proof, I point to games like CoD… which is basically the same thing, just regular new maps…
Arenas suck. They should do this…but for bgs. I mean it wouldn’t hurt to do arenas too but arena participation is at an all time low so I wouldn’t hold your breath. However if they do make new arenas before new bgs I’ll be shocked and honestly I think it would be a waste of time. By this time next year I’d be surprised if arenas aren’t basically completely empty.
Copy Halo and make a WoW Forge and allow the community to make maps. Community maps are always the best (see: Dust in CS, DOTA in WC3, all the good halo 3 forge maps, Quake maps like Ultraviolence and Aerowalk, etc)
Lots of reasons. I don’t wanna sound like a crybaby or a jerk so if I do in my reply it’s not intentional. I just find arenas to be incredibly stressful. The pace is insane. The having to know what multiple people are casting and having to know all the abilities and when conditions are met. The need for several add-ons. The toxicity of a majority of people who play them. The bots. The throwers. The people who have zero clue as to what to do. All of this is almost bearable…but then you have class imbalance and a terrible rating system. You have no incentive to try to participate for lack of rewards really only being a mount and a title that is basically insignificant. Seasons are a huge reason I can’t stand it…having to constantly regear and adjust to a new meta all the time. Bugs…losing to dampening cause I don’t have the right healer. I could actually keep going. There’s a lot of reasons it’s bad. All other forms of pvp are far more entertaining at least to me. But yea…there’s a lot more reasons to dislike arena than to actually enjoy it these days.
