Very new to WoW. Ran 2 dungeons so far and had major mana issues. Clearly I am not super experienced yet so was wondering if anyone had some advice that might help me either be more effective with my mana or avoid the issue completely that I may be missing or leaving out like some food or drink, a potion. Different gear or something like that I just don’t know about.
Thanks in advance.
Thats kind of arcanes trope is it has to manage its mana. You are using the right talents, at around lvl 54 you will get using barrage gives you about 6% of your max mana back (1.5% per arcane charge). This will make your aoe pretty self sustaining. For single target fights you are either burning mana or conserving mana and you rotate through that during the fight.
When arcane power or rune of power+ magi are up you burn mana during them and then conserve. Burning mana is just spamming arcane blast and if you get clear casting using it. At the start of the fight use magi then arcane power and burn to 0% then evocate and burn to about 80 then conserve till you can magi+rune.
To conserve one single target just get to 4 stacks by casting arcane blast or arcane orb and barrage then restart.
You should be able to conjure mana gems that will give you 15% mana back as a consumable in combat with like a 3min cd.
Plus mage food which is a spell that creates food that restores 100% health and mana over 20s while eating.

Unless you have some special connection to being Arcane, I recommend switching to Fire or Frost. At least for the current patch and how each spec has been going.
I’m brand new to game. Husband has played for a long time. Was told by his guild Arcane is the easiest of the casters to play (Spriest/Mages/Warlocks). I wanted a Robe wielding caster
Oh and thank you to the first response. Some amazing data in there.
i would not say arcane is the easiest of the casters to play. frost is much more beginner friendly and can even wield pretty good results (with the current buffs it’s been given, of course).
it’s pretty much a spec where you spam your filler spell and react to procs. the mana management of arcane makes it much more complex to frost, imo, and i’d even say fire is easier than arcane (although harder than frost).

If you are new, I suggest visiting Icy-veins. They have a lot of information to help you understand rotations, covenants, legendaries, soul binds, ect.
At lower levels, Arcane is a beast. For open world (questing) you just maintain 4 arcane charges and AB/AM things to death. Even for levelling and general questing in SL, Arcane is fine and I at least find it simpler and more effective that Frost or Fire that rely on procs.
For levelling dungeons, Arc Explosion will be your go-to, and you use Arcane Barrage to drop the stacks to prevent huge mana loss. Typically, you build 4 charges and Barrage into the pack. If you’re still losing a lot of mana, make sure to drink after each pack.
At max level Frost is likely a little easier to manage, as it’s more of a reactionary spec (cast Frostbolt until button glows and push that) with fewer nuances. The main one is to cast 2 x Ice Lance after your procced-flurry is cast. Arcane on a base level is still easy, but to get the most out of it you need to be really good at managing your mana bar to get the most out of it.

I haven’t played Frost in awhile but I personally think Fire is the hardest. It’s very fast with a lot of actions per minute and if you mess up during combustion your dps is massively screwed. That is my personal thoughts though–others may find Fire a lot easier than I do.
I’m so much better at Arcane and Demonology than Fire or Affliction, and I have no idea why. Demo doesn’t really rely on procs, I guess?
Can you tell us your rotation on dungeon mobs?
Thanks for all the feedback, you guys are great. I read a lot last night on the 3 specs and watched a bunch of videos… I think I am going to switch to Frost… after watching raids and M+ Frost just seems to “suit me” better optically and also skill wise.
I really don’t like the whole fairy/Night Fae feel either, which seems to be best for both Arcane and Fire… Venthyr makes me feel like I am back in my Goth days dancing to Type O Negative and Ministry in all black…
