New APIs Now Available for Testing

In patch 1.14.4, we’re opening some existing APIs that were initially hidden for Classic. These allow third-party websites and apps to retrieve in-game information as JSON text to display information to players or create useful tools, and we’ve seen more requests for them recently.

You can also check out the public API documentation for WoW and WoW Classic here, and we’ll update the Classic documentation as soon as possible. Until then, you can reference the similar WoW documentation on how to use the new endpoints.

Here are some of the APIs becoming public in 1.14.4:

Account Information:
/profile/user/wow

Character Information:
/character
/protected-character
/character/status
/character/equipment
/character/pvp-summary (New Mak’gora kill-count added here)
/character/pvp-bracket
/character/statistics
/character/hunter-pets

Guild Information:
/guild
/guild/roster
/guild/activity
/guild/achievements

Character achievement and specializations will be coming at a later date.

You can access the PTR data using the namespace “classic-ptr”.

This is great! Would love to see this also included for 3.4.3.

Bonus points if the static-classic-us namespace is fixed for things like Item data.

Really appreciate the wealth of communication on 1.14.4. However there is a question regarding the “achievement” additions. Since this is for the 1.14.4 client, the only games on there would be Era, Hardcore Era, and future seasonal servers. None of those game modes have an achievement system as that was implemented into WotLK. Is it just carried over data so the backend of the client is in line with the Wrath & retail clients? Or does this mean there will be an achievement system implemented in the future? If the latter, will it be restricted to Seasonal servers only?

Whoa whoa whoa.

What’s this about? Does that mean in Classic+ we will be seeing some guild achievement system?

Cool.

Since we’re on the topic: Can we PLEASE get an easy way to enable class colors in chat in classic?

My old characters still have class chat colors turned on, but I have no idea how to enable it on my new characters, either on Era or on the PTR. The old commands don’t work anymore and I don’t see a setting for it.
