New alts leveling

I’m about to get my first level 90 and was curious about speed of alt leveling.

I see I guess theres a 25% bonus or something up to level 80.

is there anything from 80-90 besides skip movies?

Once you finish the campaign and hit 90 on your first character, you’ll get a Warband XP achievement, be able to skip the intro and be able to choose which zone you want to start with.

And when you hit 90 on your alt, you can go to Soridormi in the inn and skip the leveling campaign. You’ll also earn another Warband achievement for added bonus XP up to 25% total.

Each 90 gives a 5% bonus up to 25% I think. 10-80 zips by and is pretty enjoyable. I’m currently at 83 on a DH with the full bonus and it doesn’t feel particularly faster. That may be down to how the questing in Midnight zones is laid out with lots of walking, talking, and cutscenes. Plus the XP per level grows a ton for each level making 88-90 drag a lot.

In TWW I had over 15 Alts at 80. Leveling them from 70 to 80 felt much, much, faster, even the first 3 that did not have the full exp bonus. It is an absolute slog this expansion.

I did one alt to 90 in this expansion. I tried just doing quests, and I got about 3/4 into 81 and stopped. Time Walking was up, so I decided to do strictly Time Walking dungeons. was taking about 5 runs per level.

The TW dungeons themselves did not give great exp, it is the bonus you get for completing them that is important. For me, I think the bonus was about 100,000 exp.

So in the future if I want to level up any of the level 80’s I have, it will only be during a timewalking event.

99% of the players will brag about how quick they can get to 90, but there are always factors such as Class and Spec, which makes a HUGE difference. Overall leveling regardless of class/spec is SLOW.

  1. It’s not bragging.
  2. If 99% of the people are saying it’s still quick to level… then there seems to be consensus there.

Me? I had zero issues dual gathering and questing to level alts. It went by pretty quickly and I saved all of the Delve quest turn ins for level 88, then turned those in to hit 90.

and it is the same… it is based off using a class/spec combo.

There’s Follow the Arrow that has a few options. Generally, you want to:

  1. Complete the campaign on your main
  2. Finish side quests on the 2nd/3rd alt.
  3. Do all the delves as early as possible when you’re strongest and turn them in at 88+
  4. Save first craft bonuses for the very end.

In theory, they’re buffing some of the delve quest XP in 12.0.7 and time walking is usually decent.

I’m up to 6 now and it was annoying. Granted, I fail at being able to focus.

Per PTR notes, patch 12.0.7 will buff certain xp activities significantly. Projected to drop around June 17th.

Significantly increas[ing] the amount of experience earned from completing the following types of Midnight quests: 1st time delves (Delver’s Call), Midnight dungeon quests, Prey, and weekly Renown activities.

Myself, I have added void assaults, classic cooking/fishing dailies, and Normal Prey quests into my leveling routine.

I’ve leveled Ret, Fury, Survival, Balance and Enh so far. All about on par with each other, including the undertuned ones and squishy ones.

None of them were a significant difference.

The TLDR I do somewhat similar to above is:

  • Warmode: ON
  • If you’re from TWW; you can GIGApull elite mobs around the meadery till you level to 81.
  • Do Delve quest and stack them up. Remember that we have two more!
  • Then do quests till 87-88 depending on your warband bonus/DMF/etc.
  • Hand in and do professions, remember you can just put a stack of basic mats in your warbank and use them on all characters.

I personally don’t think it’s very slow, but I tend to practice something until I have it down to an artform so now about a month ago I followed a guide and then tweaked around it.

Is there a class you’d say is particularly slow?

It’s probably the fastest it’s ever been, really doesn’t feel like it drags much even without really pushing for efficiency. Kinda feels like there’s a certain amount of people that won’t be happy unless they can like join a group finder powerlevel group and push 80-90 in 30 minutes.

That’s not remotely true but ok. I’m not spending my Saturday arguing about it.

Op if you end up finding it slow, here is the thread that’s been going on for weeks about it.

I know some streamer said that dungeons were out for speed leveling, but tank/healer specs that get instant invites still seems faster than questing to me.

A dungeon is 5 quests worth of exp + all the mob exp. And unless you know the exact routing and the pathing to the shortest closest cluster of quests, 15-20 minutes in a dungeon > flying around doing a bunch of different objectives solo
