To be fair, would that race even be a kyrian at that point?
Their entire purpose is to guide souls to the shadowlands, that’s what makes them a part of the kyrian faction.
Not doing that feels…wrong.
It’s hard to justify any of these SL races coming with us.

I guess I just look at the Kyrian and if there was any allied race I’d ever choose, that’d be it.

Allied races are a totally stupid idea. The only requirement to play a race in WoW should be to select it on the character creation screen. My sub should give me the right to play any race in the game.

Completely agree. Also, the current allied races are just…bleh….
I’m 99.9% sure we’ll never be able to roll a SL race. They had their shot at life, they died, ascended, there’s no going back.
I hope it’s never again for a different reason.
A new race is supposed to be new every thing. New starter zone, models, animation, mounts, etc. Allied races are extremely lazy.

There is also the fact that SL races depend on Anima for their basic sustenance (all the food they eat is animals that only eat plants/drink water made of anima so they themselves are anima, or they eat those plants themselves and they def drink the water) and Anima is just…soul juice so…bringing them back to azeroth would be like taking a vampire to a hemophiliac convention…not a good thing to do!

Almost certainly never, as Shadowlands races clearly aren’t intended to be playable. Sylvar are the only ones that look remotely playable in their current state, the rest would require whole new models in the same vein as nightborne in BfA. Kyrian have only enough faces, hairstyles, skin tones, and outfits to count on one hand each, Maldraxxi skeletons would be redundant, Maldraxxi gladiators don’t even have visible faces, fae are out because they use the val’kyr pet rig, vorkai are out because they use the dryad rig, and venthyr would also probably need to be decoupled from gear.
Other than the thought of having to do another rep grind just to play a new race, I’m sick of the definition of “allied race” being warped by the community to mean either “any NPC race in existence” or “Sonic OC-tier concept that some hack on GD or MMO-Champion came up with” when the ones we got in BfA were either reskins and/or subspecies of races that we already had. And I’m expecting it to get worse when the next expansion is announced in three weeks and either
- There are new playable races, but the Alliance playerbase moans that they don’t like theirs again or either faction moans that their races don’t have access to specific classes (void elf paladins, Zandalari warlocks, vulpera druids, etc.)
- There are no new playable races planned, but there are new humanoid NPC races and people start demanding those until Blizzard either caves (vulpera) or doesn’t budge despite massive fan demand (sethrak and Covenant races)

It would be sweet if we could play as those cool skelly friends from maldraxxus. But I’d rather they just give us an upright option for male undead.

And yes, that only made the whole allied race crap even worse. For years Horde players had been asking for a red/ochre skinned option for orcs, so they took that and ran with it and gave us Mag’har. I dont recall anyone asking for Mechagnomes and Highmountain are basically Taurens with slight modifications. The rest were equally nonsensical. About the only ones that made sense in any way were the Kul Tirans because at least they had some basis in recognisable lore, but then players werent provided with an option for one of the two obviously available body types (which doesnt bother me as Im not a ‘sizeist’ obviously).
If we did get any new races I swear to the gods of gnomedom that I will be hugely annoyed if they aren’t (a) additions to the basic races and (b) creative and new in some way.
Don’t nobody even mention Ogres 'cause we need more good races, not more oogly ones…

And all the work we did was just flat out disappointing. I’m afraid that if they came up with a new race, we’re gonna have to farm rep and a timegating achievement just for a reskin.
Kyrian is like rice on white bread boring. And that’s the faction I belong to
Stewards and dredgers would make more sense. But only because I want to kill stewards
It’s gonna be the Sethrak for Horde and those vampire people for alliance. Money on it dude.
If it’s a dragon xpac and we don’t get Sehtrak and Saurok as allied races I will have lost faith in Blizz. Lizard people are needed to control the factions.

I just want my Ogres one day. I am going to die on that hill. They have been a part of the Horde in lore since the beginning, there are several clans allied to us, and you even officially induct a clan into the Horde in a Cata quest line. Come on Blizz!

I don’t think at this point in the story we will see any of the SL “races” (if you can call them that) will be playable at this point.
But there is still allot of races to pick from for allied races such as:
Taunka
Dragonmaw orcs
Hozen
Furbolg
Vrykul
Jynyu/Ankoan
Broken dreanei
Arrakoa
Saberon
Ogres
Drakonoid
Half-elves (primarily dalaran ones)
Forest trolls
Mok’nathal
Burning blade half orc/dreanei
And there could be more dwelling on azeroth

I have wanted Saberon since WoD, and I will always want Saberon. I need a tiger warrior.
Moving on from that, the SL races I’d want to play are venthyr and gargoyle, not sure I’d play any of the others if they were ever made, which they probably won’t be.
Wouldn’t mind some kind of dragonkin either.
I could see the maldraxxi coming with us to help with the scourge, the scourge were never supposed to be in the mortal world yet they already are.
So technically the world is already in an unnatural state and its been that way for so long its normal for everyone.
I could also see the deer ppl coming along perhaps.
