While the new affix Challenger’s Peril is active, a death is worth 15 seconds instead of the usual 5 seconds. That means in the likely scenario of a shaman dying, ankhing, and dying again (pulsing damage or targeted mechanic, take your pick) instead of losing 10 seconds that same shaman now cost the group a whole half a minute from the timer.
That is going to make using ankh a massive gamble, one I’m personally not going to be comfortable taking. This further highlights how desperately ankh needs a change. I’ve suggested turning it into a proper self rez and bringing it up to the 60% minimum that other battle rez’s have while keeping the current cooldown, and I’ve even read suggestions of turning it into a passive akin to a Rogue’s Cheat Death.
Regardless though something -NEEDS- to be done about ankh. At this point using ankh in your keys is just trolling the group. It needs to be changed.
How did it impact your damage? been considering picking one up but I have chromatic essence (Which I think would be the one I replace) and the nelth trinket
In a perfect world we have both but don’t worry there’s only ~5.5 more hours till we can both be disappointed by the new build
This came up in a conversation I was just having with m+ people. The new affixes / design at 12+ is nice but it’s still a battle of defensive usage with tyran/fort/guile all enabled. I would rather we be fighting the timer than our survivability, as it is demoralizing to need to resort to hoarding externals or tank trinkets to survive situations which other specs (or really just classes) can live without any such needs.
And iirc they are weakining role-based trinkets for specs outside that role, but maybe I read an old alpha/beta change wrong.
I thought that trinket change was mostly aimed at tanks using dps trinkets, but I’d have to re-read it because thats what my teams main tank was complaining about
IIRC it works both ways. Tank trinkets are weaker for DPS and DPS trinkets are weaker for Tanks. I think they also said some trinkets will be flat out restricted to only tank specs as well.
Pretty much what my guild was talking about. Unless they happen to massively tune down damage and making the timer the focus again we’re likely going to have similar issues as we did in DF with defensive creep defining the meta.
Missed this. So it did a hit on damage but the passive effect will do some damage (think I got around 1% overall which ain’t much but is something) and the on use damage component isn’t the worse, actually gets some good value provide you’re stuck on the boss for the whole duration. The passive effect while uncapped is also a bit odd. It says when you’re in combat but what it actually means is once you take damage when first entering combat, so if you do a whole pack without getting hit with any damage it wont proc. Unsure if corrupting rage would trigger it.
The biggest thing is that moments where I would have needed to blow some MSW on healing surges were not as prevalent. In ULD I was pretty much able to either shield/dr each buffet on the last boss and in some cases just AG buffet the buffet afterward to keep myself topped. So it is damage loss but you gain damage in other spots by not needing to blow resources on self-healing and being able to just focus on damage/mechanics. I also felt way more comfortable not using a vers pot and sticking with corrupting rage since the vers on it essentially equates to a vers pot (roughly 700).
Keep in mind this is only a heroic rageheart and its still giving a 1 mil shield on a 1.5 min CD. Mythic one is about 1.4 mil shield.
We just need a talent option that turn it from a Self Rez into a cheat death… Perhaps with a 10 sec window to use it in cheat death form (instead of the 6 min in self Rez form) to keep the flavor.
I’m not saying to give shamans a timer tweak. The difference is that if you die if a paladin or any other class uses their brez on you, you were more likely than not being reckless or not paying attention. If a shaman ankhs they have less than a quarter of their maximum HP. A stiff breeze will most likely kill you if you dont have any defensives ready, and chances are you wont.
This threads not about tweaking the timer but instead buffing an ability that does more harm than good. Not once in my OP or in any other responses was there anything about a timer tweak, instead the timer is used to highlight how much of a gamble it is to ankh and how its not going to be worth it and that ankh should be buffed or changed.
i mean its the same as not clicking the brez if damage is coming out right? Maybe they have something cooking for shaman next week. you may get a defensive instead.
