Just thought I’d shamelessly promote my new addon here.
Once you hit max level, you no longer are able to keep track of XP. This addon changes that and would tell you (approximately) where you would be if the max level was higher. Levels gained are called “Paragon” levels showing your dedication to the grind. Upon installing, you will see an XP bar very similar to that of the standard Blizzard bar. You can move this bar by right-clicking and dragging. This bar may not leave the screen. XP may be earned only by killing enemies. Raid trash and bosses will give XP. Enemies deemed “trivial” by the game do not count towards XP.

Could be cool to use, instead of using /played just a neat alternative to use
Thats actually a pretty cool idea. One thing that has always bothered me about wow is that our need for xp just flat out stops at max level. I always hoped we would get an “Alternate Advancement” system like in Everquest where we could continue to make use for xp at max level.
Some people enjoy leveling up. I know its hard to believe there are other ways of enjoying a game outside of what your spreadsheet tells you to do.

Does the api provide experience values regardless of level? Or I could probably shorten that to, does the api provide experience values?
NGL I loved this kind of stuff in OSRS. It’s just fun to know where you would have hit xp wise even if it doesn’t amount to anything.

I loved AA’s as a 19 year old with kids of time. I think it would kill WoW for me in my late 30’s lol. I find a lot of relief in knowing xp is something I no longer need to bother with. With that being said, it WOULD boost the end game dungeon grind a lot, as people would always need exp.
Yup it would help combat raid logging too because you would eventually fall behind your fellow raiders.
While I don’t really see how I would be interested in this stat, unlike some other posters, I want to applaud you for making the effort to create an addon. If you and some others get enjoyment out of this, it was completely worthwhile. There is a very small percentage of the player population that takes the time to learn to write lua code and spends the energy to maintain addons. I think there are very few people (although some) that don’t use any addons at all. The more we can encourage people to engage in development, the more likely we are to have robust addons that people enjoy.
Congrats for making this and I’d like to hear updates if you add features or have an additional “sales pitch” that might draw in more interest. It’s definitely a cool concept. I think people might like to hear more use cases for it and how they might apply it to their gameplay. Gee whiz is reason enough imo for some that have already expressed interest. I just think there is more if you put your mind to it.

Try to not be such a blood elf.
Yea, not really sure why this community is toxic just to be toxic.

Every time I read the word “toxic”, I get that Britney Spears brain worm burrowing through my head - thanks for that btw
That said, I agree with your sentiment…
I actually came to say exactly this.
I was just working on a Python script to send very specific tweets from coinbase over to a discord channel yesterday and today….
IT TOOK ME SO LONG!!! AND IT WILL SAVE MY FRIEND AND I ALMOST NO TIME BECAUSE WE CAN JUST OPEN TWITTER AND READ THEIR FEED…
But, I’m so glad I made it. It felt good to think critically and do something productive. It felt good to help my friend out with a weird request he made. It also helps me appreciate all the hard work that must go into developing applications!
So… thank you for making something and sharing your idea with the community!!
