Fair enough. So stick it in as a pvp talent. It honestly boggles my mind that they haven’t given full Pvp talent trees to allow for diverse playstyles between PvP and PvE. That way one area of content doesn’t hold back the other. I love Pwave for PvE but I imagine it must be nightmare to use in PvP for any of the specs.
Choose between Primordial Wave and Cataclysmic Maelstrom (Fae Transfusion).
Problem solved.
That way I can channel away at my discretion in my corner of Azeroth without being funnelled into a meta copy/paste build.
In fact, make Earthquake a similar ability, with it being channeled and actually dealing massive damage and knocking down all affected targets every X seconds.
This still leaves the opportunity for tuning to push fae ahead so nah, keep it gone.
I’d be down if it worked as a totem instead. Drop it does it dmg. Then you click a second time on the ability to heal. No need for the channel time
I think your opinion needs a hammerin’, clearly having a choice to differentiate your play style from others is appealing, no?
Do you see what your pivoting point is, “tuning”. That is what creates the illusion of choice.
However, with something like Cataclysmic Maelstrom, you have an entirely different mechanic and setup/approach. Some may run mythic+ with it because they’re nothing but rebels, while others will stick with the tried, true and tuned Primordial Wave.
Keep in mind, interaction with Fae Transfusion (Cata Maelstrom) doesn’t benefit from things like the 4pc set bonus currently or in future iterations (my version anyway).
If the choice is eating a tasty sandwich or eating black model choice.
Except tuning will lead to those rebels getting kick from M+, kicked from raids, and excluded from arena teams because of their choice to play something that is objective worse in terms of damage, utility, and class utility,
Speaking solely as an Enhance shaman as that was the only spec I played in SL, Fae Transfusion was only fun because of the CD reduction to wolves letting you get out a second pair of wolves after Fae Transfusion, the secondary stats were certainly welcome, but the majority of its fun was due to the second set of wolves. With the new tree system, and Feral Spirit CD Reduction locked in all the time, the spell would be pointless as anything other than an awkwardly channeled single target nuke ability.
Other people argue against Chain Harvest due to its simplistic design but I honestly enjoyed it the most out of all 4 covenant options. I think it could be added back in, and honestly solve a few issues with the specs, (Elemental and Enhance at least). However it should not be added in as yet another button, or even as Chain Harvest.
To break it down more, Chain Harvest’s appeal was in three factors: Flame Shock Spread, Big AOE Nuke, Big Group Heal. Imo there should be a talent that allows Chain Lightning to become Lava Beam and spread Flame Shock to every target hit. I don’t want yet another RNG proc for this class so ideally it would be tied to another ability. Maybe after Stormkeeper for Ele/Resto the next two Chain Lightnings additionally become Lava Beam, and for Enhancement which has much less trouble spreading Flame Shock it could be a more vestigial thing such as “Every 3 Fire Wolves, your next Chain Lightning becomes Lava Beam.” As for the Big Group Heal, I don’t think it’s at all necessary given the sheer amount of tools we already have for it nowadays.
Vesper Totem should never return in the way it was implemented in SL.
