Been doing some aoe cath runs the last couple of days to grind to 40 for my mount and damn, first few runs were awesome group disbanded and tried to form one, and my last 10 groups couldnt get a proper run without deaths, wipes lol. Seriously some of em are atrocious and it looks like mages are the new huntards 4 real

If you’re doing an AoE run, then either the mages aren’t giving the tank time to get threat, or the tank sucks and shouldn’t be in an AoE run.
It’s pretty hard to mess up an AoE pull as a mage. Give tank a few seconds… drop blizzard. You’re done.
Heck, if you’re AoE specced and it’s a melee only pull then the tank is actually optional even.

The tank sucks, or the warlock is unloading before the tank can get threat. It’s always the warlock trying to compete with the mage when it comes to DPS meters.
Warlocks are so fail sometimes. They shouldn’t even be allowed in dungeons.

Most likely mages are not coordinating there frost nova’s properly…or a mage or two is low level and its being resisted a lot of the times

AoE Cath runs are 3 mages a priest and a warlock. U don’t need tanks for AoE Cath.

Yup. I had a mage 8 levels above me gank me yesterday. And he killed me once I killed him once he killed me once I killed him once then he had a warrior 7 levels above me make sure I didn’t camp him after I killed him the last time.

When I was leveling I noticed a lot of people trying to gogogogo right from when the group enters the dungeon. You can’t just go huge right off the bat with a new group no matter whos in the group, you need some coordination. You have to slowly ramp up over a few pulls.
There are a lot of fresh mages, but I also saw a lot of tanks not los’ing casters at the start of the pull, healers bombing heals and pulling agro way too soon and splitting the group up, tanks not placing themselves between the group of mobs and the mages, etc, all of which basically make it impossible to effectively aoe as a mage. Edit; also saw lots of mages kiting every which way instead of all the same way, which again basically scuffs an aoe pull

Right…shouldnt need a tank…warlock for the eye kilrog pull…los…coordinate frost novas…aoe…
Groups that I have been in that didnt go well were mages that didnt communicate or coordinate frost nova…or we brought in a mage that just a level or two too low and frost nova was being resisted on a few pulls…

If you think a group of mages should be letting a warrior pull the groups you don’t really understand how this works.
The amount of bad mages out there is crazy right now. Having frostbite is a clear sign you have no idea what you’re doing.

Good AoE Mage groups have coordination, not just blind Blizzard and Frost Nova spamming.

Imma be clear, the group comp is me, pulling with eye of killrog, a priest and 3 mages, it’s supposed to be pretty damn easy to stack these guys and slow em. Did it succesfully a number of times the first day of pulling this, but then, I don’t know, mages don’t seem to be able to coordinate sh*t, or just die while trying to frost nova (mid pack like idiots instead of near the pack).
LOL who said anything about Warlocks? Why are you assuming a warlock was even in the group. He’s talking about mages here…

Not everyone that plays a mage is familiar with aoe grinding or aoe pulling in dungeons. Maybe walk them through it a little bit and try and teach them what works and what doesn’t if you are such a pro?

Coming from a mage main for 10 years plus. It’s even more hilarious fighting against bad mages in PvP. All they do is spamming AE, Fireblast, and CoC and would freak out at any moment they couldn’t do so and Iceblock.
The AoE groups that could effectively do this reliably are already 60.
I never liked the AoE meta and prefer to run dungeons the old fashion way.

I just don’t like pet classes and have never played a caster before.
I’ve mained a warrior since vanilla launch.
…or just not AoE Cath, and run it normally…
