My friend had been going for that mount for three maybe four years now and recently gave up trying to get it. If memory serves, the last time we went for it and she did not get it there was a lot of colourful language and insults directed at both Ion and the drop rate. She’s quite the wordsmith when she’s angry.

You can farm Ha-Li for the recolour as well. Not sure which looks better. Ha-Li is a black version. Ji-kun is more brown?
I always forget about this one. I think i’ve run it… twice.
I was farming Nalak hard (30+ characters a week) and maybe half the time would run ToT on normal sometimes up to Horridon to try for that mount. I figured I’d start doing Heroic after getting Spawn of Horridon.
I got the Thundering Cobalt Cloud Serpent and decided it was time to get serious about the raid mounts. A day or two later I got the Horridon mount, and the same day I got the Clutch of Ji-Kun on a different character.
So I really have no reason to go back to the Isle of thunder.
FWIW, same week I also got the Astral Cloud Serpent (after hundreds of kills), some mount out of Zul Gurub that probably wasn’t rare, and Rivendare’s Deathcharger (which is easily farmable).
Since I had just completed my goal of reaching Honor Level 500, I wasn’t sure what to do next. I played classic for a while, as it was just starting. Then bought BfA and leveled in Korrak.

Congrats OP! I was in the same situation a few months back. I’d seen 3 of the Dino mounts on my way to Ji-Kun. Ran it on and off an several characters for a long time. I bet I had 100 or so runs. Finally dropped. I haven’t been back since.

I thought I would never have to go back once I got the shaman set and the Skyscreamer until on of my kids said, “Hey I like that mount how do I get it?”.

Grats on getting Ji-Kun, but never say never. You never know when you may suddenly have need to go back in there. Like a tmog item for a new class you just leveled.

I run it occasionally for gold purpose hoping for mount. The hydra boss has terrible mechanics and takes forever to kill.
I got it some time during WoD or Legion. Never use but I love the orange color in Ji-Kun so I can see me actually using it.
That boss annoys me to no end. Especially when I am helping my kids and tell them, “we’re doing blue, don’t target blue” and they proceed to nuke blue. Luckily I keep screwing up soft hands so we have to come back anyway.
Hmm I did say never have to go back but I don’t have the achievement mount…
