Never Do Conduits. Ever. Again

I’m being serious on this one. Conduits are the most annoying system of borrowed power I have ever encountered or done something with in the history of this game.

To put it plainly, I have an alt which has an arena spec, and a bg spec. Anytime I wanna do bg’s? I gotta go on back to the conduit thing and change out my conduits. And then anytime I wanna arena, back I go again to the conduit thing to change my conduits again. I’m having to run to a soulforge every day at least 4-5 times. And it’s irritating.

Never again. Seriously, one and done. “Oop, you’ve succeeded! Here’s your power :D” and done. I despise conduits. None of this extra maintenance is fun. The only gate to being able to play another spec should be gear. “Do I have the right gear and stats? Yes. Excellent.”

Game over. Done. Never again.

we need to bring back the spec not borrowed power

I don’t want class skills or passives tied to loot drops. Getting a conduit as a loot drop doesn’t feel good. I’ve had a few drop on my warrior that I’m playing to work through SL content. I wind up wishing that the conduit effect was in the talent tree instead. I’d rather have gear, a pet, or a mount. I’m not liking the soulbind and conduit system at all. The OP brings up another important issue.

Each dragon in Dragonflight is the covenant, sort of i think. Skills-based, xmogs mostly.

So it’s like Covenant - lite

I haven’t messed with conduits other than to fill them in when I started. And bought the ZM upgrade

While I get the point behind your comment, this is exactly why conduits as a system were so horrifically implemented. Most of the player base did just this. They didn’t experiment, they didn’t toy with it much, they didn’t bother to try out other specs of experiment.

It’s why Blizzard apologized for conduits being so horribly implemented when 9.1 came out or whatever and they were talking about fixing it so we’d never have to deal with conduit energy again, which in and of itself was an abysmal system.

You know, they throw these systems at us with no real adaptation into the game. As in, I do a mini quest to unlock each conduit and it factors into my spec the way talents work.

Instead of just throwing a bunch of numbers at me requiring me to go to a website to figure out the math, offer something that feels related to my soulbind like a power Emeni has or something.

It’s just like the azerite armor wheel, I just picked things at random.

I don’t feel much connection to my soulbind partner.

conduits are fine its how they are making you get them thats annoying.

I disagree. Their implementation is completely counter intuitive to people who play more than one spec.

Take Necrolord PvP for example. Marileth is the best choice without contest. There’s no reason to run Heimir, or Emeni in 90% of situations. As someone who plays arms for bg’s, but fury for arena, I have to constantly go back because I will not and should not have to play a subpar soulbind for my chosen content fields. This means I have to go back 4-5 days a day.

It would be different if they made it so all 3 specs had different soulbind trees. In other words, that if I’m in arms, I have arms conduits for Marileth and then if I swap fury, my arms potency conduits would be swapped with pre-determined fury conduits that wouldn’t require constantly going to a soulforge for.

Conduits, as they’re currently implemented, are terrible.

its was their bad attempt at more borrowed power…lol.

I’m really tired of borrowed power. I just want class abilities and talents.

I agree with you but if you doing arenas and bg cant you just sit by the soulforge and q? You dont actually travel for that content

No but I travel in between sessions.

In other words, if I’m doing bg’s, I’m going to go do other things inbetween queues due to how long queue times are. I’ll go do my callings, and things like that, or go to different zones to get world things done for the sake of getting grateful offerings, etc.

But when when I wanna queue arena, then I gotta go back to my covenant hall, or back to Zereth Mortis. And then I can sit by there until I’m done queuing arena. But then if I wanna queue back to bg’s, I should go back to being productive in other ways.

Edit: Not to mention, I shouldn’t be chained to a soulforge in the first place. That’s bad implementation. We did away with chaining people to NPC’s and places for a reason. Bringing it back in this format was dumb.

Conduits are basically in a nutshell Glyphs. However with multiple ranks you need to grind out for 0 reason.

Glyphs = 1 rank and grab from an inscription person

Conduits = multiple ranks and needing to grind out content which may or may not drop it.

They are talents is what they are

Cumbersome talents

They said in Dragonflight other then gear player power will be in the talent tree revamp. There is no borrowed power like conduits, artifacts, essences, etc

As far as each of the flights, they will be a renown type of system vs the standard rep system where you earn a cosmetic reward as you level it up.

It’s a game mechanics. It’s like changing talents. It’s not changing talents on-the-go.

You make your own game. Why do you feel so entitled? If Pacman shape is square, do you have a say?

Blizz gave you freedom to change conduit… before you cant…as it has cd.

Before, I had a main that keeps changing specs back and forth between tanking and DPS. I cant just change specs as it was so costly. I made an alt… if they want DPS, i have the alt. If they want a tank, I have a main.

It’s posts as awful as this one that make me wish we had a downvote button. God I rolled my eyes so hard reading this reply.
