Netherwind Population Control

I recall Blizzard implementing some population controls on Full servers when free xfers went live, these included no paid transfers into those realms, as well as limiting new character creation to accounts with existing characters on that realm. Netherwind now has a (small) queue during peak times. Will those same limits be put in place? We have a reasonably close faction balance and are obviously at the max comfortable population.

400+ person queue at ~7:30pm on a Tuesday.
Not as bad as Incendius was… not good either.

Yeah, been through that, hoping to prevent it from happening again by having Blizzard learn from the disaster that was Incendius. Would appreciate an official response on the matter.

Too late, it’s already happened.

a 23 minute queue on reset day and a 3-4 hour queue every night are two different things. The server can still be healthy if steps are taken now.

It was healthy at half the current population. Now, even if you wait through a queue, you still have every single area overfarmed and camped. I made 4 circuits around Burning Steppes last night and ended up with 4 thorium ore and nothing else. Similar for my herbalist, hours running around and little to show for it.

Netherwind was fine for months, now it’s overflowing.

I agree it isn’t ideal, but it can be tolerated. If it is allowed to continue to devolve into what Incendius was…

It’s disappointing that some of us intentionally picked a medium pop server, and now in the span of two weeks, our pop has exploded into having a 40 minute queue on reset night.

Blizzard told people, four days after launch, to re-roll on Netherwind if they wished to avoid queues. This is a joke.

Action pretty much needs to be taken right now. Incendius is now basically dead, and Blizzard needs to take action as soon as possible to prevent that from happening on Netherwind.

That’s the mistake people make. 20 minutes wait, 40 minutes wait, an hour wait. You’re waiting on something you’re paying for. Don’t tolerate a minute of it. Vote with your wallet, Blizzard should have more regard for their players than to allow it to get to this point.

Clearly they don’t care so why should we continue to pay them?

So… changes happened to a server that was fine…because some people on other servers complained.

Seems like this is not right.

Blizzard allowed the other servers to become disasters and then limited the options for xfers out. Now they have allowed the same thing to happen to Netherwind. I don’t hate the players, they just want to play the game. I am mad at Blizzard for refusing to do basic management.

Maybe. We can discuss this separately (and I think we should) - I think that players pushed for it to happen, and shame on us for supporting them.

This seems to be an unfortunate happening to Netherwind, which never should have gotten the transfers it did. All those who complained about it being low population should have been banished to other servers and/or stoned.

No, they don’t. We are so numerous we have all sorts of interests… most of us don’t care about you or yours.

Are you also mad at your mom? How is that working out for you?

Exact same thing happened to earthfury…

I think everyone can agree that vanilla servers didn’t have anything close to the populations of “Full” classic realms, so yes, I think Blizzard allowed effected realms to reach new levels of stupid.

I am not sure why anyone would be paying for a sub to play a video game and not want to play said video game, but I suppose there are some weirdos out there. I am not saying I care about every snowflake on every realm, or expect them to care about me but I think we have a common interest in wanting a healthy server.

I am not sure what you are grasping at on the mom comment. Are you saying you are happy with the current state of affairs at Blizzard? It seems with each “new” release they are drifting further and further away from what made them such a great game dev to begin with.

908 in queue with 43 min estimate at 2100 EDT. 476 in queue with 22 min estimate at 2145 EDT. I’m curious how or if they were monitoring transfers so servers didn’t end up having queues like this. I’m not sure the expectations were set, either. If someone can dig up a glue post about it, I’d like to read it.

I agree.

Certainly, but not a common definition of “healthy server.”

Children say, “I hate you.” to their moms. “Children” being the operative word. I’m implying that complaining about Blizzard for our personal choices is childish.

For what it’s worth, I personally vastly prefer the current levels of population and Faerlina (imo) is a much better server than any server that ever existed during Vanilla’s timeline.

I didn’t say i hated Blizzard, I said I was mad. Perhaps disappointed would be a better description. I am sorry that expecting a bare minimum of customer support for a subscription service is childish. I will try to mature.

It’s my personal choice to punch my brother in the face. But if my mother saw me do it and simply turned her head away… yeah, my mother is terrible.

One of Blizzard’s jobs is to manage server populations, and they’re doing a terrible job.
