Developers’ notes: This previously awarded a token for one set armor piece. We feel that the time has come to move on from earning and redeeming class set armor tokens at their vendors for a desired armor variant. Players will now want to find an eligible Veteran-track or higher armor piece to convert at the Catalyst, and these can be acquired from many sources around Undermine.
so basically what im reading into this is you are going to be forced to have the correct armor already in that slot to change it into tier… instead of getting a free heroic piece. that kinda sucks.
at the start of a season you get aotc and your reward is that you can turn a veteran piece of gear into tier instead of being rewarded properly with a free piece of heroic tier gear. thats pretty big
This wouldn’t have changed much for Snowpine, at least. An alt I was plinking away at… potentially? Though I was still more likely to get an odd piece of gear than a set token out of the raid.
I do not know how they will implement this, but it does not sound that great.
When you get a tier token, it is basically an armor piece and a catalyst charge.
This is going to significantly slow down collecting tier sets at the beginning of a season unless they are giving us 2 charges every week or something.
Tokens will drop from the raid like they usually do. Or, you can always convert a tier-capable drop from the earlier bosses into tier. This change will really only affect the players who don’t complete their tier sets as they reach KSM/1600+, where before they could use the token to finish their sets, they now have to hope that among the loot they’ve won that week, one of them will be convertible to the missing tier piece they need.
No, it means that clearing the raid on heroic won’t give you a choice of a hero armor piece from the Season 2 KSM/Heroic Raid/1600 achievement. Bosses will still drop tier pieces.
read it fine instead of getting a free piece of gear we have to already have the relevant ilvl gear that you want in your slot to upgrade equating to a net nerf overwall takes rp drink wondering why this makes me feel like a weirdo
Doesn’t change much when heroic pieces aren’t that hard to get nowadays.
Sure is a small downgrade to get a catalyst charge instead of a tier piece directly, but also they get rid of a vendor so I guess that’s a win for them.
it slows down the initial gearing and strategy for gearing for raid groups. later in the season it wont matter but then again neither does catalyst charges.
What they still need to do is buff raid drops.
M+ will still be the way to get full hero track, gearing from raid drops is not really a functional thing right now.
