Nerfed again on beta

feels bad…

Lol that’s hilarious I just saw it, a nerf pretty much across the board idk what their thoughts on enh is.

It’s sad I usually main alt enh sham because I find it to be a fun melee, but honestly the direction it’s headed I’m about to just main alt a second priest. Blizzard is trying to kill off enh players I guess or maybe surprise us all with mop Ascendance too balance out these nerfs lol. #bringbacktheZap

-50 to -35 damage aura modifier. That’s a buff

Great changes to enhance in this patch imo.

Baseline nerf to enhance spells reduced from 50% to 35% and no longer applies to healing surge!

First talent row balance addressed with buffs to elemental blast and lashing flames and nerf to forceful winds

AOE talent row balancing via nerf to hailstorm and buff to fire nova

Ice strike damage buff

The MSW change in particular is huge. Now basline spells hit for 65% and 5 MSW stack will hit for 130% instead of 100%. Healing surge will heal for 100% baseline and 200% at 5 MSW stacks.

This is an enormous buff to survivability and off-healing and gives our MSW finishers more power. Particularly ele blast with the additional 25% buff.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding something, but from what I saw of the beta update was a nerf to Forceful Winds, which we knew was coming after the change to Windfury and a nerf to Hailstorm, but that talent was way outperforming that row, so that’s no surprise either.

Other than that, I see us getting 15% of our damage back on Chain Lightning and Lightning Bolt, plus a net gain of 63% for healing surge. Basically, the damage reduction changing from 50% less to 35% less (net gain of 15% back) and Healing Surge being removed from the 50% reduction list and given an additional 13% increase. Seems like a good increase for survivability. Still, not everything we need, but not a nerf.

On top of that, we are getting a buff to Fire Nova and Ice Strike, potentially making them more worthwhile (perhaps, I’m not sure how they will compare still).

its a buff we were at -50% now at -35% aura that’s a 15% dmg buff to everything we do

You mean a buff to spells that were doing like 7% of my damage overall? yay, now they’ll do 7.8% of my damage! Yay

MSW Finishers don’t hit hard enough in M+ at least, Frost Shock with 5 Hailstorm was on top by a fair margin with being better in ST then Fire Nova and amazing in AoE.

Fire Nova isn’t good in ST and Hailstorm being the biggest contributor to damage was nerfed. Unless there’s some wonky stuff in the pre-patch I do not see how this was a buff. The things that got nerfed were way more impactful then the things that got buffed.

This all seems like the right direction to me -

nerfing and buffing outliers to balance talent rows to give more choice,

buffing MSW spenders so MSW feels more impactful (also a buff to stormkeeper making it more competitive w/sundering)

removing the nerf on healing surge so we can hard cast meaningful heals.

Allowing healing surge w/5 MSW to go to x2 strength seems like it might be a bit strong but when you look at what other hybrids are capable of from a healing perspective right now it isn’t actually that crazy. Particularly when you consider that they don’t even have the mana issues we have (look at shadow priests, feral druids, ret shamans - really strong healing w/o mana issues).

You right you right, I read it wrong. Thought the modifier was a bonus and was reduced

I’ve been an enhance main since vanilla during the meme days, through to wotlk at which point I co mained my old shammy with my old DK.

Now, for the first time in a very long time I am genuinely excited about my original favourite spec. Great changes and great direction for the class, hopefully these changes add more depth and player choice for enhancement. If they make elemental spirits on par with ascendance I’ll be over the moon. Solid stuff.

If we can have the lava surge nerf reverted, we’ll have a real win on our hands. Please keep up the good work

Lava Lash still needs 100% damage buff at least. No one will take hot hand because it still hits like a wet noodle on hot hand procs. Also another defensive.

I agree though, steps in the right direction. I like Hailstorm myself for PvP, just hoping I am not pigeon holed into Elemental Assault because of the nerf.

If they address mana regeneration or compensate us

  • reduce mana cost via maelstrom weapons
  • baseline mana regen 200% buff like WoD
  • Primal Wisdom mana regen on melee attacks
  • remove mana costs from dps abilities and keep on utility/healing

Any of these, and I can grind my way around our low survivability if you just bring back my ability to mana battery

This and flame shock spreading are the last things Enh really needs to feel complete

I agree here.

Hate the mana regen issue effecting dps shaman.

Looks like they are moving damage from windfury to our casted spells.

I guess if it translates to a competitive dps build I’m happy.

I like that they did a small buff to instant surges, would be nice to get something for defensive as well because we have gone down the road of having strong heals and they always get nerfed.

Yeah although this is nice blizzard literally stand over enhance with a nerf bat. The second some ppl complain our healing is strong it gonna be nerfed into the grounds just like in 8.1 BFA and they aint gonna look back. Disgusting when other classes basically run around doing like 400k chaos bolts for 2 years and we heal a little more than others and we get nerfed into unplayableness. Its why i dont trust em hahaha i want to see a defensive XD

So Healing Surge will probably be nerfed because oh boy. Was doing torghast with the new update to Healing Surge and was almost one shotting myself back to full with crits.

Note: This was with the Healing Surge defensive conduit for 15% more healing on myself and Earth Shield for an additional 20%. Didn’t get any Anima powers that affected either ES/HS by the time i had to end it early and hop off.

MSW damaging abilities were doing work though. Ele Blast coming out strong with the new buff, and Lightning Bolt doesn’t feel like a waste of a spender anymore.

Lava Lash still feels terrible to use.

We should probably stop with the “Enhancement is gonna get nerfed” comments. because I get the feeling that blizzard reads that and thinks we are asking for them. I mean we play this class regardless of how bad it can be sometimes so blizzard just sees it as “this is what they want”. Lets just be happy with the good changes and continue to debate about the bad ones.

Yeah its because we don’t have any defensives.

When a player gets on us compared to other dps they don’t have to think about things like:

“Crap he had bubble/block there goes my cds.”
“Crap he had vanish/cloak/evasion/uh w/e combat’s parry equivalent to evasion is there go my cds.”
“Crap he had Die by the Sword.”
“Crap he had Touch of Karma.”
“Crap he had Turtle/Dispersion.”
“Crap he had Blur”

There are other dps that are in our situation such as: Boomkin/Feral, Warlocks, Fury Warrs, Dks, and Ele Shams.

Out of these Warlocks understand our suffering the most. They are equally as easily trained due to all their time that must be spent casting/low mobiltiy. They get to make up for this though by having instant cast CC abilities and spammable Fear.

Boomkin/Feral have the advantage of passively having some of the highest mobility in the game via shapeshifting, Bear Form specifically serves as a great deterrent against melee.

Dks have always had high defense against casters with AMS, and with AMZ returning its only better. Icebound Fort gives stun immunity which makes it better than most % dmg reduction abilities.

Ele is a whole different world to Enh. When I’m Enh its time to get trained. When I’m Ele its the exact opposite, though I can understand why, being ranged already reduces the likelihood that you’d be trained combo’d with Tstorm/Earthbind/GW/Cap/Frost Shock root and you can kite melee like a champ. I’ve kited two warrs, and a rogue till they all died by just using these to play keep away. Enh can’t do this because ya know, Melee.

Fury has far more mobility than Enh on top of better healing + instant CC’s in Intimidating Shout/Storm Bolt.
