Spell reflect during charge
Just fought a Hunter, hit him with spear, he turtled and walked out. Seems like it’s a good counter to spear. Figured I’d add that in.
ye guys just use your main defensive spell to get out of my ability that has half the CD

Walk out after using a turtle shell…thats not walking out. Thats literally just using everything to live.
Everything, right. I mean, arms only has parry, that’s our only defensive, until ignore pain comes back, that doesn’t even block magic.
My brother in christ you can literally sit in a perma wall if you want to, fear an entire team, boost your entire teams HP temporarily, reflect spells into a magic wall, heal for 20% and cleanse, and heal yourself for 30% of your max health

My main issue with spear and I can’t read this whole thread to see if it was said or not, is if you use a cooldown that makes you immune or breaks movement impairing abilities you should be able to get out of it. Using dispersion just to keep getting pulled back in is not working as intended?
This is exactly how spear should be, if I use Master’s call which frees me from movement impairing effects and makes me immune to them for a short time then I should be able to walk out of a spear. But it doesn’t work like that.
I mean if you’re going into a spear window without having bladestorm and any other way to avoid yourself from getting CC’d by the hunter you’re just being bad especially if you’ve somehow been rooted outside of your own spear
Like if you’re using spear properly there isn’t any way for the hunter to counterplay you significantly
Hunter can kite you significantly outside of spear windows but what matters the most is just having a good go where the warrior and his team mates actually connect for a little while
Spear legitimately just owns hunters hardcore because being able to control the movement of a class that is reliant on being constantly mobile as it’s defensive is just going to be very, very solid.
Compare the cooldowns between both
You obviously need to instantly turtle the first spear as long as the warrior doesn’t significantly throw
That just forces you to win super fast because it just simply isn’t up for the second spear. You also have to just hope that you never get stopped on any mobility for the rest of the game that puts you on the backfoot as far as uptime/win fast
It’s not necessarily that warriors are an auto loss for hunters either, but spear absolutely is definitely an insanely significant anti-hunter mechanic and if the abomination that craven stratagem never existed it would have been so apparent in Shadowlands as well how hard it destroys the class
I think either spear needs one yoink or Master’s call freedom should allow us to get out of spear. Either of these would fix the entire issue.
Oh I agree spear absolutely shreds hunters and I agree there’s little counterplay. I don’t agree that spear nerf is the solution. Is it only hunters it dominates? Would it not be beneficial that hunters get additional answers to the problem rather than reducing the spears power? Again, I’d rather see buffs go out rather than nerfs.

And a very strong self heal on a 30 sec cooldown, let’s not forget with a healer arms are just juggernauts
