Nerf / remove defensives from DD specs

Since we already took the first step back to the “holy trinity” in WoW with nerfing the tanks significantly, we need to do the next step and remove or at least nerf all defensives for DD specs.
The survivability of a lot of DD specs is currently way too high, especially i.e. specs like the frost DK need to be nerfed when it comes to the survivability, if we really want to restore the trinity in dungeons and raids.

Also, in parallel to how DD trinkets are less effective for tanks, same should be for any trinket with defensive abilities, since they should be considered tank trinkets.

Same as the big tank nerf, this is meant for PvE of course. PvP is another matter and not part of this topic.

DPS was too much to type?

I know them as DD since even before WoW was a thing. DDs make DPS. But let’s not start to argue semantics.

Blizzard already did this - they nerfed all talents from every class that provides damage reduction from AOE effects and they nerfed most defensives on every class.

Take ret paladin for example - reduced the amount of damage reduced by divine protection by 10% and they also nerfed the shield of vengeance absorb shield (forget by how much).

Also blizzard has redesigned many classes and how they scale with different stats so that the max dps set up does not involve stacking versatility.

Ret paladins are now more inclined to to use crit and mastery than before.

Windwalkers used to stack nothing but crit and vers - now they actually scale really well with haste.

So most (if not all) defensive for dps specs have been nerfed and they won’t be able to stack versatility anymore (which is also a direct nerf to a dps spec’s survivability.

Semantics define everything. If you can’t use the proper nomenclature, I can’t take you seriously.

Some could be tuned down.

Did you i.e. try out a frost DK lately? There is still a lot of work to be done.
But I agree, that a few specs are already where they should be.

No I will never play a dk. Playing a class that lacks mobility that much would actually frustrate me all the time lol

Tanks could solo content. Slowly, but it was possible. That is an absurdity in a team orientated game. If a tank can be worth about 50% of a DPS but never die, a DPS should be able to be 50% of a tank.

I’m not against your change, but it is kind of a “you first” thing. Get rid of tank healing and we can talk.

This is fair.

This thread is not about tanks. It is about the extra survivability the DD got buffed over the years when there were higher and higher incoming damage spikes, especially, but not exclusively in M+.
Blizz did flatten out the incoming damage, so the added survivability is not necessary anymore. On the contrary, it might lead to situations where DDs just start making content without a real tank, just taking a class with enough survivability. That would again be against “the trinity”. Means a nerf is absolutely neccessary.

DPS are not currently invincible with defensives

This is a weird tank thread

I don’t say they’re invincible. But a lot of the DD specs do have too high survivabilities at the moment.

If they arent invincible, why does the survivability of every DPS spec need to be nerfed?

Especially if only a few DPS specs have high survivabilities?

Once again.

Weird tank thread.

The need to balance the trinity doesn’t start at being invincible. If we did arrive at invincible DD specs, it is way too late. And from my standpoint it’s not only a few.

All 3 parts of the trinity have to be in order, not only the tanks (and maybe the healers). You’re only worried DDs loose being in their current OP state.

How are they in a OP state? Are they surviving with zero heals? Are they surviving something they shouldn’t?

This tank thread is bonkers.

The survivability combined with the DPS they do is the problem. Tanks have nothing to do with this.
