Nerf Mage AoE

Now, I’m not saying that they shouldn’t be able to AoE and kite mobs of thier own level or lower because thats certainly normal for any class with decently powerful AoE and the ability to run away / slow down opponents.

The problem that I’d like blizz to solve is the mages pulling groups of 6-7 mobs that are level 43-45 and having little to no problems kiting and AoE’ing the whole group down. There needs to be a firmer line drawn with what they are capable of doing in terms of farming huge groups of mobs, this shouldn’t be possible for ANY class in the game to do.

Lol the devs added a 50% crit damage rune without fixing ignite double dipping. Do you really think they’ll nerf mage?

This is the exact reason they need nerfs.

But yeah par for the course with blizzard and their favorite class.

I mean they named the whole company after one of their abilities.

I would like to highlight the secondary issue of mages being the best pick for literally everything. They are the highest single target DPS. They have the easiest leveling experience. They have been given arguably the most quality of life improvements of any class in addition to strong runes. Scrolls added for x functionality are just another bonus for their class exclusively.

Additionally in the STV meta right now it’s best just to stack 5 mages and camp the altars and aoe spam.

Blizz refuse to do anything about it, despite the overwhelming amount of players in agreement that the class itself is massively OP right now they will continue to nerf hunters, short paladins of any meaningful buffs, and buff magest to all hell until everyone is playing a mage.

Wah wah.

I have a solution for this. Bring in the AOE cap from BC. BC introduced AOE cap to 10. It means that the total dmg you do with aoe abilities is capped at 10 and if you have more than 10 targets the same max damage will just divide between them. I’d actually like to go further than that and say max it to 10, so after 10 they won’t even take any damage.

Nah, TBC had some janky AOE cap where spells weren’t allowed to do damage beyond some arbitrary number. It was like 10k for arcane explosion and 14k for seed of corruption.

Aint no issue. Stay mad.

Fair…

True…

Also true our fire runes are insane.

Get wrecked

Finally something I can disagree with. The scrolls cost like 7silver to decipher and 90 % of them are completely useless most of us don’t use them because it’s not cost efficient.

I can see that you are concerned about the mage’s ability to AoE and kite large groups of mobs in WoW Classic Season of Discovery (SoD). I understand that some players may feel that this is unfair or unbalanced, and that it affects the game’s economy and difficulty.

However, I would like to offer a different perspective on the mage’s AoE and kiting strategy in SoD. The mage’s AoE and kiting technique is not as easy or risk-free as it may seem. The mage has to invest in specific talents, runes, gear, and rotation to optimize their AoE and kiting potential. The mage also has to deal with various challenges and threats, such as elites, healers, dots, stuns, silences, interrupts, patrols, respawns, and other players. The mage has to be very careful and skillful with their positioning, timing, and spell usage, and rely on their cooldowns and consumables to survive and succeed.

These trade-offs and difficulties can make the mage’s AoE and kiting more challenging and rewarding, as they have to adapt to different situations and make smart decisions. They can also make the mage’s AoE and kiting more fun and satisfying, as they can experience a different and unique way of playing the game. The mage’s AoE and kiting potential may vary depending on the phase of SoD, as the level cap, the available gear, and the raid content change over time. Therefore, I would suggest that you respect the mage’s choice and playstyle, and see how it evolves in different scenarios. You may find that the mage’s AoE and kiting is not as overpowered as you think, and that it can still be countered and challenged by other classes and factors.

Of course, this is just my opinion, and you are free to disagree with me. I respect your preference and feedback, and I hope that you enjoy playing WoW Classic SoD, regardless of your class and spec.

I have never seen a mage refuse to use scrolls, but if they are truly that bad just take them out and only keep the res scrolls for healers. There is no reason to give them anything further they already have tons of unique QOL features.
