Ik it’s just ranting, chaos bolt needs a bigger buff for pvp.
I remember dueling Drexia and Muffinrat in Durotar in MoP (or maybe WoD idk been a while) and thinking I was winning only for them to run a perfect cc chain on me when they were low health firing off 3 super long cast chaos bolts that I believe also required banking full embers and earning another one during the cc chain and winning. They’d do that to basically everyone as well.
Yeah I get it this post has more glaze than krispykreme but it was true. Contrast that with the last destro lock I dueled on beta and he won by jumping up and down without casting a single ability the entire duel. Destro has been nerfed since then but the difference between the two designs is wild with the current iteration being an abomination of what the spec should be.

That’s most specs now vs then, tbf. Class/game design went into the gutter.

Yeah because everyone would love to see double destruction/druid again likes it’s BFA all over again
Every meta is terrible, and nobody including destro locks wants BFA destro back.

Un nerfing Ritual of Ruin would help too.
When talenting Master Ritualist it only needed 10 stacks to give faster chaos bolt instead of 15. Only reason they moved it to 15 stacks was because over fiend summon did bugged damage, once they fixed the overfiend dmg bug they never changed the amount of stacks required back to 10.
Also Flashpoint use to give more haste per stack last season & was nerfed into the ground. It should also be reverted as it only applies to targets above 80% anyway.
I think reverting these two talents could make Destro feel more fluid again and more able to reliably play around burst windows, thoughts?
What I don’t like about Destro atm is that it doesn’t feel threatening.
I have been playing blitz recently and even if I am allowed to freecast I feel like any healer can deal with my damage easily.
What’s the point of having great overall damage at the end when 80% of that is easily healed.
It’s weird that affliction is doing more damage but it also has much better burst.
The latest buff to Incinerate and Chaos Bolt is nice but it’s not gonna change the current state of Destro.
Destro always has been a burst spec and this can only be achieved by buffing Chaos Bolt so I agree with the OP simply move the damage from Wither and its passive effects to Chaos Bolt.
PS : Bring back Entrenched in Flame root as a replacement for Curse of Exhaustion in form of PvP talent. This is a justified request based on what are certain melees allowed to do in PvP.

Coming back from Legion, I also think that it’s immensely lame that Chaos Bolt does no damage. It was one of the more jarring changes I noticed and marks a change in design philosophy, IMO.
I was in a blitz the other day and this one destro warlock was just spamming Chaos Bolts on me but they merely tickled.
I’m in favor of giving classes their hallmark gameplay mechanics back. Make chaos bolt great again. Bring back WOD PVP
