I imagine assass is disproportionately stronger at lower rankings because rogues can just drop all their cooldowns on someone and people with less experience panic and just die, but at higher ranks it doesn’t work like that at all. I’m not anywhere close to being great… I’m probably “okay”, but even at 1500 if I bleed up my target and hit Deathmark and haven’t coordinated enough with my teammates to have already forced defensives or cc the healer I can guarantee my target probably isn’t dying.
That said I think it would be better for blizzard to strive to rebalance classes to be more like assassination. IMO it’s almost the perfect example of a balanced class. Almost 0 RNG, damage comes from strong sustain and one strong burst CD that still isn’t a gimmicky 1 shot but must be reacted to much more quickly to survive. It’s strong right now for sure, but I’m surprised you don’t see more people saying they’d rather see more of this than classes who do the same overall damage but it all comes in extremely spiky RNG burst windows that can’t be reacted to at all.
Like it doesn’t matter if your overall damage is garbage if your whole thing is to 100-0 someone in 2 seconds because that’s more of a guaranteed win than actually having to ramp up your damage and apply pressure to get a kill.
Deathmark, and it’s debuffs are already dispellable by every single evoker in the entirety of WoW. Doesn’t stop mid 1400’s bracket players from turbo crying about the evil Rogue boogeyman.
Just wait until they find out disc priest dot hits for more than rupture or garrote… Or that Aff can apply more DoT pressure at range while fearing. Or that Demo/BM pets apply more passive pressure with no build up or setup.
People hate Rogue because it’s Rogue. It’s a class systemically designed to beat bad players who don’t know how to fight them, and then designed to lose to them once they do know how to fight it. The top 0.001% of players who fight AWC tier Rogues are playing a completely different game than you are at the challenger 1 bracket.
I’d rather fight any spec rogue except SLS1 The Rotten oneshot cheese, or Cata daggers+trinket OHK rogue than any expansion warlock/mage/hunter

Assa rogue still seems pretty strong in the AWC.

I said disproportionately strongER at lower ranks, I didn’t say it wasn’t strong at higher ranks.
I mean it’s insane at the highest level, so I guess at lower rankings it’s giga-bonkers broken then?

This is my favorite argument, as if the guy stuck in the 1500’s bracket is in the same league of competition/player skill/meta as hyper focused year-long-practiced compositions that work based off extended CC rotation trading forward to receive more for less.
You, me, and anyone else reading this aren’t playing at an echelon where AWC balance even remotely effects our gameplay. We’re just not. They’re playing an entirely different game. These people know kill windows are coming two minutes ahead of time and deliberately trade CD’s and trinkets into them to put in an advantageous position for 5 minutes from now – you’re mashing buttons and posting on the forums.
These people could beat you on a naked level 5 Ele shaman and make a youtube montage about it while doing it. It is not the same.

So assa rogue isn’t disproportionately stronger at higher ranks?
The point is it’s no different at any rank, but yes, it probably “feels” giga-bonkers broken to inexperienced players whether or not it is. And imo it’s not with all the nerfs it’s received at this point, but ultimately that’s for Blizz to decide.
Rogue dies to air like 40 seconds into gutter mmr shuffles.

I don’t play at higher ranks so I can’t really give a credible answer to this based on experience. Based on where I play right now though it feels like it’s in a good place, but again that’s for Blizz to decide.
Obviously not true. The only way they win under those circumstances is if my computer/internet/power dies.
Also true, which is part of the trade off of being strong otherwise. Survival as assass is rough.
That… was clearly a hypothetical extremism to establish the point. Take any top-20 player in the world, most of which who are at AWC. Go look at their youtube channel. Watch them make a fresh roll, boost it, hit 70, and immediately blast to 2.4k rating in blues.
How many have done it now? 4? 5? It’s the player, the meta knowledge, and the skill/time invested. Specific classes have nothing to do with it at this level of gameplay.
Oh, then might as well say level 1 for maximum extremism.
Deathmark isn’t the issue it’s shiv
Deathmark damage and rogue damage overall can stay the same but remove shiv and wound poison from the rogue class
“remove wound poison despite it being quite literally one of the first abilities ever given to the Rogue class nearly 20 years ago, because I’m a healer and I don’t like my heals only healing me for 110% of my health instead of 140% of my health.”

Post on your 1300 assa rogue
My rogue is stuck in the 1900’s atm, because I’ve been prioritizing mount grind on DK.
But… weird “call out” ? Even the rogue guy named semicasual if you tried to checkpvp me is in the 1700’s.
post on it then.(you wont because then your lifetime challenger account becomes visible to the public eye)
Or because this is the account the website automatically assigned to post on, and when I change it - it automatically posts on this one regardless?
But, doesn’t matter, you’d just move the goal posts to some other equally asinine concept. “oh you only hit 2400 because you played x/y/z class” “oh your dk is only 2600 because it’s a dk” “oh your 2700 achieve was playing X comp” “oh your enchants are from inflated seasons” blah blah blah. Your type is everywhere, and you’re just not worth it man. Dime a dozen.
