I mean, 'twas evident that Blizz didn’t care about pop as far as Vanilla/BC. Blood Elves, on the verge of extinction following the events of the Scourge. Why not massacre all those who followed Kael’thas to Outland! And we do kill a crapload of them. Heck! Even before WoW! In Warcraft III, the Darkspears, Taurens and Orcs were on the verge of extinction too. I highly doubt 4 years is enough to replenish a population to fighting capabilities.
Unless Warcraft Orcs were supposed to be like the Orkz. Now, maybe I’d agree on the 4 years.
This is the wisest take. Sylvanas is a fictional character. She has no agency, autonomy, or capacity for independent thought and behavior. Everything she does is dictated by the devs (which is who players should be mad at). But the devs somehow managed to foist most of the blame and hatred onto a puppet. She’s not the source of the problem. She’s just a symptom of it like Garrosh, Varimathras, Putress, etc.
Her removal is not likely to fix much. The devs managing to generate so much enthusiasm among players for her death is detrimental if anything. It serves as reinforcement for them to repeat this story again. Events like the Destruction of Theramore and the Burning of Teldrassil are cheap, lazy, and manipulative. But they’ve proven effective in getting players invested/engaged in the story by hyping them up to kill whichever Horde character committed the most recent atrocity against the Alliance. At this point, Blizzard probably sees this framework as a guaranteed method to hook players (and their money) in.
Expressing excessive eagerness for killing Sylvanas will just encourage the devs to make Geya’rah nuke Nordrassil in the expansion after next. So, once again, players will be inflamed and so intent killing her that they’ll continue playing and paying, even though they’re unhappy with more loss.
Why introduce new villains when they will never kill off Sylvanas? They will just have Sylvanas around forever and hope for people to stay subbed, thinking they will eventually get to kill her.
Little do they know that you don’t have to play the game to follow through the lore.

I wount be preordering. I was burned with wc3 reforged. Only a moth left on my sub and dont have any plans on coming back, at least until more SL info is available. blizzcon reveal for shadowlands was incredibly underwhelming, there was so little to show us. The only thing that was shown was Sylvans continueing to play a huge role. I hate this.
Right now I dont want her to die though. What i want is for all that she has done to avoid that horrible after life she saw to have actually been propelling her towards it.
If she is trying to free the jailer, let there be some caveat that there must always be a jailer and she gets sucked into the position that happens to include that torment. Let it turn out that she was duped into taking the jailers place.
Ah I see you’re passionate about the catharsis that comes from Horde characters being punished after leading the Horde down an evil genocidal path. I’m sure Blizzard will provide this story again. They apparently love doing it and if it gets players impassioned they’ll love it even more!

You didn’t quite get the memo yet, but it’s World of Sylvanascraft now and not WoW anymore. If you want WoW go play classic, if you want to play retail you will get a new Sylvanas cinematic every 2 years with the writers unhealthy obsession with her.

After what they did in BfA. Utterly destroying 1 race just to show how great Sylvanas and the horde is and then completely ignoring them, a revenge patch without revenge etc.

And what are you refering to? He didn’t say anything about night elves and the only night elf content we got on blizzcon was the info that all innocents that died are forever in the maw for eternal suffering. Great, makes it much better.
I mean you been told and linked, and you keep saying you so sure none of it is gonna happen, just saying, for your mental health I think its time you just move on from the game as a whole.
I’m just realistic when in in 15 years of WoW nothing good happened to the night elves why should they give us the pleasure of freeing the souls from the maw or stuff like that. That would be completely unrealistic and you must be very naive to think that.
