Hello all, primarily those familiar and dominating in the auction house community.
I’ve used TradeSkillMaster for some time now, but I have always found myself going back to Auctionator or the default interface as of 8.3 for the Auction House, just because in all the years I had played, I have been struggling to make a profit with or without TSM, and I have nearly given up (and went back to whatever-other plugin or default interface.)
A few days ago was one of those days I have gotten fed up and stopped using TSM because I was actually losing more than what I was making, even more so when I figured out one of my IRL friends who has only played since mid-Legion, was making over 100K weekly.
I had never had more than 70k on hand at one time, across all characters and realms, in all the time I had played WoW since MoP. I barely spend any of my gold, except for repairs. This being said, I have never even touched a token and payed for every subscription and expansion out-of-pocket from the start, and hadn’t been playing the game as much as I’d like to because it is always a matter of time before my subscription runs out. Keep in mind, I only play the game 4-5 months out of the year realistically because I’m realistically not going to pay 15 dollars a month for the game when I can play some other game free or with a one-time price.
I am probably not going to get a useful reply out of this post realistically, and with what I stated, I might get some backlash just because I can’t seem to make a profit. I know for the majority where the flaws are in the way I use TSM, but strings look way too complicated for me to create my own, and I have either used someone elses strings or the default strings, or default strings using sheymin/sheymax, but they never make a profit. I am hoping somebody can make a string for me ta just meets a few things, with a little explaining on what number/field represents what.
You may want to read the whole post however, because you might want suggest a different approach or something else of the similarity based on the information I‘ll provide about what I auction, how I auction, and what my characters as of current are capable of doing.
I have yet to find a sweet spot on what is actually worth anything, because every different kind of grind I do, never pays off or sells as completely useless and not worth the effort.
But here’s the general string I am looking for, which I will use for raid drop gear/BoE’s and crafted gear all alike;
Note: All auctions are buy-only.
The current auction price must be worth more than 100 gold to post.
Takes on average less than 6 times to sell.
The posting fee can’t be more than 15% of the final auction price (I lose so much gold this way.)
Auction price isn’t less than 115% of what it can be disenchanted or vendored for.
The maximum value of selling an item is 200% of minimum value.
The price ceiling is 100k gold.
Normal is… normal?
I am needing a string for min, normal, and max values, and I always want to post at minimum values.
You can use dbmarket or shaynorm values, or any other price source, whichever you guys have had the best experience with, but I want to be sure to post at the market’s current value so long as it is not below 75% the last 14 days min price average (dbmarket)
There is no undercutting as of 8.3, and for gear only 1 post at a time.
I am also wanting to sell materials on top of raid BoE’s, specifically since my main is a leatherworker/skinning rogue and I alt a few other characters such as a enchanting/inscription Demon Hunter, a Darkiron blacksmith/alch, and a kul’tiran and (soon to be) Zandalari herbalist/miner/gatherer.
I do have BfA flying, so I am capable of farming BfA mats. I only started to see how the profit was going to be, since I just started playing a druid class as a gatherer… my first run was using Gathermate and Routes… in the Jade Forest, which I have no idea how good or bad the profit is in that area, but I am pretty sure I hadn’t made more than 400 gold in an hour and the mats are still trying to sell on the AH as I post this.
I have tried farming savage leather in the Firelands, just going in and our of the instance after pulling the hounds and the scorpions and killing them over and over. That method makes shy of 2K an hour, which is a little pathetic for gold making. I have done this method on Thrall-Alliance, which is a 98% Horde server, and Stormrage-Alliance, which both had poor results for each piece being even just under 1 gold a piece at times, and only as high as 3-4 gold a piece on a lucky day… let alone do they sell as quick as I farm them.
The point is, I am looking for some answers and help on trying to figure out how to even just barely make a monthly token. I am heavily discouraged towards gold making because nothing ever works for me and nothing ever goes anywhere whenever I am trying a new method, and I’m wanting to badly change that.
I love gold making, but I hate it when I don’t even have the grounds to even call myself a gold maker, when I sometimes can’t even make more than 3K gold a day or 30k a month.
