Need/greed in LFR

Yes…its another one.

This needs to be said.

Blizzard…what in the world are you thinking?!

Personal loot in lfr was fine.

I REFUSE to compete with 5 other cloth wearers for a piece of gear…

I did 3 bosses, rolled on several pieces of gear and didnt get a thing but a waste of my time.
(And no its not entitlement, its wanting a reward for putting in effort and time to help kill a boss)
I am DONE. 262 ilevel gear drops out of mythic + and can be upgraded. I can wait until my guild raids in dragonflight. I just wanted to try to get some pieces out of lfr to help gear up my mage…competing with 5+ people for one piece of gear? No thanks.

Fun fact. People are now holding off on rolling in group loot until after people leave the group as doing so invalidates their roll. So you can have 1 person who will theoretically roll a 5 and another who actually rolled a 90 but the person who will roll a 5 will win if the person who rolled a 90 rolls and then leaves the group before the person who rolls a lower number actually rolls.

Obviously this is a niche scenario as it assumes the item you are rolling on is at the end of the instance to make it likely that someone will roll and leave before your roll timer expires, but it is indeed happening.

You have been warned.

Edit: OK stop spamming me. Apparently this got “fixed” such that even if u leave the group, you will still win the roll.

Make sure in loot specialization under character ui you select your current spec otherwise you won’t get your Main Spec bonus for the roll.

For me there are two primary problems:

  1. Speed at which loot is distributed. Right now, it happens far too slowly as people are given far too much time to decide. I have had to intentionally AFK the next LFR queue several times because people don’t roll or wait forever to roll.
  2. It is shocking and disturbing how selfish people are. The fairness of loot distribution in LFR is awful. Transmog should NEVER get priority over actual upgrades, and people should not be allowed to win need rolls on items that are a lower item level than what they currently have equipped. Sure this might be problematic for offspec rolling, but that’s not anyone else’s fault that you’re doing the content in an alternative spec than what you’re gearing. RNG is awful. It’s the worst, laziest excuse of a mechanic. It’s unnecessarily punishing.

Running LFR instances dozens of times for zero reward feels terrible. It’s a waste of time, and it’s not fun. Yes, there’s the vault, but waiting a week for ONE item after getting nothing from the actual content is a cop-out and cheap.

There should ideally be loot mailed to you if you win. Someone was saying this doesn’t happen but I could swear I had a piece of loot mailed to me I didn’t get in an lfr.

Perhaps it’s bugged atm tho.

Also if your on your main spec I believe that need roll trumps all other non main spec rolls.

Currently doesnt happen that way. I was on my pally and rolled need on 2 items on the last boss. A druid didnt roll on anything any 18/25 left group, i was last plate wearer to stay and won both items

Then this is either a bug or an oversight I think

It’s not. This is exactly how it worked when Group Loot last was in LFR as well.

Again, people can scream up and down “This is a different system!” but it’s not - it’s still Group Loot at its core and still has all the problems that came with it. They solved maybe one of them with their changes.

Forced Group Loot should never have happened in LFR, as me and many others said.

All the “new” loot system is a visualization of the loot in front of you, and not a hidden behind the scenes automated roll on your behalf.

It gives you the choice to not take something you don’t want

Hmm well this is probably not something I’d imagine they want happening though.

They also don’t want players needing on everything they can just because they can - but they still will.

If that was their intention, they failed.

I actually exaggerated I don’t really need everything I try to look quickly through it and need what I think I need for main spec, but yeah of course they will.

Yeah but people are selfish and lazy. They see a need icon, they click it. Regardless.

Why is Blizzard so dead set on having either group loot or personal loot across the game exclusively instead of just incorporating both where they make the most sense?

WoW needs a new loot system. Take a page out of other successful MMOs’ books. RNG is lazy, antiquated, and feels terrible.

I swear they are doing it out of spite because of the people who wanted master loot back. Like childen yelling, fine you don’t like personal loot then nobody can have personal loot!

Why? How can you determine what is or isn’t an upgrade for someone else? ilvl isn’t always right. And many of us only do lfr for the transmogs. Tradeoff is that we carry the bulk of lfr and without those people lfr raids would take a lot longer to complete while you wipe repeatedly waiting for determination to make the encounter winnable with undergeared and under skilled players being all you have to work with. Who if you believe the forum, only have mere minutes a day to play anyway so they need to get it done fast!

This forums is spare parts.

You were always competing with players for loot while using PL.

You never saw a boss kill that awarded zero loot and you never saw a boss kill that awarded everyone loot, under PL. Every kill gave out a set number of loot pieces based on the number of people eligible for loot from the kill. .2 loot drops per player. Basically 1 loot per 5 players.

Every player was rolling behind the scenes for who would get the drops. If you won the roll you got loot.

People can’t need on everything. There are a number of rules that prevent that. Why shouldn’t people be allowed to win the stuff they are allowed to Need on if they want it?

This is such a strange conversation. It honestly feels like everyone is saying “it’s not okay for other people to get loot that I want for myself” it’s horrible.

It isn’t simply, “they got gear and I want gear, no fair”…

It’s just a messy system. People waiting out rolls forever and forcing you to miss the next LFR queue. People needing things they don’t actually need nor want and (presumably, but correct me if I’m wrong) being unable to trade them after. People starting fights over who won loot, when nothing would’ve happened if personal loot had done the same thing.

I find it to be a pretty dumb system, but that’s fair, Blizzard has to have a few.
