So do I need to copy every WTF file to desk top and change its name . A long with add on folders . Or by chance will they stay put when I uninstall all games .
Would not need to reinstall but for endless scanning loop
They should stay put because the game installer doesn’t know about all the addons you have installed, so it can only remove what the game came with. It’s easy enough to back them up though. I always keep a copy of WTF and Interface with all their contents in case a bad addon or WoW update breaks something. Makes it easy to quickly fix. Just make a folder called “WoW Backups” or something like that wherever you want to keep it safe and copy the WTF and Interface folders to it.
Would be nice if I could just use Battle net uninstaller and installer but looks like I need to just delete World of Warcraft folder . I get a error when trying to reintall and endless scanning loop if I try and repair .
Well deleted wow folder now its about a hour tell my copy paste from back up HD is done . Even though its only up to last xpac . Hope this fixes wow . I know nobody works at Blizz any more I started 11 hours a go , this is post #2 on mostly scanning loop Think its time to find a new game to play . I mean even world of tanks has better tech support then blizz !!!
Hey Garrics,
Best way to do this would be to make a backup copy of your Interface and WTF folders (save them to your Desktop for example). Then use the Battle.net app to uninstall all versions of WoW.
Before reinstalling, open File Explorer and go into C:\Program Files(x86) and manually delete the left over World of Warcraft folder. Once that is done you can use the Battle.net app to reinstall whichever version of WoW you’re playing. Finally copy in the Interface and WTF folders into the game version folder (_retail_ or _classic_ for example)
to restore your addons and settings.
Thanks Jambrix but down loading over a 100 gigs is a no go that is 31 hours to down load . I have back up copy on old idi hard drives . copy pasted folders to ssd now onle 6 hours to update to shadowlands . not sure how long to do linch king yet . And by the way my internet is a lot faster then blizz is letting me down load 7 MB’s when I should be over 50MB’s
You may want to double check your download with an internet speed test, and compare that to what the Battle.net app is showing.
One thing that you have to keep in mind when you’re talking about download speed is the difference between MB/s and Mb/s. Notice the big B versus the little b. The big B stands for Bytes while the little b stands for bits. There’s 8 bits in every byte, so that means the download speed in MB/s is going to be about 1/8th of the download speed displayed in Mb/s.
Other downloaders and applications may display the download speed in Mb/s, but the Battle.net app always displays in MB/s. Internet companies will often advertise their speeds in Mb/s (Mbps) because higher numbers look better of course.
If you’re paying for 50 Mb/s (Mbps) download speed, then you should see around 6.25 MB/s (MBps) in the Battle.net app.
Bnet shows MB/s at a little over 7 . So the down load calculator only will do Mb/s so time is way off . Thanks Jambrix . My internets is a little over 50 Mb/s
