Need some mage tower help

Going for Werebear. Its been fun but im not making it past the second wave of Nether…things.
The videos ive watched seem to have out of date specs, and the bear doesnt seem to take half the damage i am.

I got the AoE trinket
I took an arcane focused build

Things don’t seem to die as quickly in my trial as they do in the videos. And im getting wrecked. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you get past it?

I keep hearing its a lol fight but im not sure how. Also my gear is whatever but im told that doesnt matter much. Is that true? (I think hes in this seasons PVP honor gear, whatever ilvl that is)

It would help with an armory link of your bear druid so we can see what specifically you have going on.

Did this on VDH (this expac) and Brew (Legion), and I’ve never tried bear in my life, so specific advice may not be entirely applicable - but the most important takeaways I found for both are:

-Watch your stacks of standing in the inquisitor’s crap zone. 6 seemed to be the consistently highest amount I could eat without sacrificing too much health, but the number may be different for bear. Once you hit that max, focus everything on getting those stacks to drop off because everything hurts so much worse when you have like 3hp

-Don’t be afraid to use those healing/stun orbs on cooldown to just blow up the nether horrors. They always take priority and they’ll turn Velen into paste with the AOE pulse if left unsupervised, so spare no expense.

The fight, in general, seems to be treated more as a DPS race. Get aggressive, as much as you can stand it, and maybe go find an old BiS trinket to farm for some extra cheese.

So im avoiding the puddle like the plague unless i have to interrupt. Should i be standing in it?

This. Having done it on every tank spec in Legion, and a few more recently, I think that proper orb management is the single biggest part of this fight. Timing out orb usage to not waste them by using too early, but also not waste them by NOT using them, is the most important thing to learn.

Off the bat, I recommend getting the trinket from Iskaar. It makes such a huge difference for bear, and any difficulty trinket will do. Moonfire will randomly trigger an extra burst of damage, dealing absolute tons throughout the encounter. It made it much easier for me.

Bear has the benefit of incap roar, which makes it so almost every round of adds can be trivialized in some form or another. The most important thing to remember is getting off the roar the literal second the tick happens after the cast is finished, not before. If you do it before, they’ll just recast it. Do it after, and it goes on CD for them.

Always, always, always moonfire first on every mob. You wanna milk that trinket for everything it’s worth because it has no ICD. You can also regrowth when the adds come out of the portals to instantly nab healing threat. Barkskin is your friend. The short CD on it makes it so using Barkskin for every wave or every other wave of adds is a good idea.

Seed Pod basically solo’s the nether horrors. It’s up for every wave. You can position the pool to damage both the adds and the boss, making p1 go even faster.

Gemming/enchanting your gear would be helpful. You don’t need anything fancy, but it’s a dps race. Waking stats/sophic/etc will boost your dps significantly.

Try to go into p2 with no more than two infernals up. Makes avoiding them (and the other mechanics) in p2 easier.

Replace the Brawler trinket with literally anything else that actually deals damage.

A couple pointers. You need to play the galactic guardian moonfire build/twin moonfire/ elune’s favored/moonless night/ Rage of the sleeper. Take convoke and improved convoke. Get a spell caster trinket. The hast/proc trinket from tas’zvesh was great for me. But you basically want to be casting moonfire constantly on things. You want a trinket that procs damage from moonfire damage.

You want improved survival instincts and innate resolve as well.

You do want to dance in and out of the puddle. At 5 stacks. Move out. wait for them to drop. then go back in.

When the nether horrors spawn run out and start tagging them with moonfire. They will all run right for you. When they are grouped up around you Then Thrash/moonfire them down. When they all start casting their spell, wait till it is 75% casted then demoralizing roar them to interrupt. Then Thrash/moonfire/swipe to finish them off. You need to wait till they all start casting and interrupt their cast. Or they will pulse and kill you.

Use moonfire to kill the eyes off. But always keep moonfire rolling on varris. Interrupt his drain life at all costs.

Do not focus DPS on infernals. Just let the passive moonfire spread do it. Focus Single target DPS on Varris.

You just have to get the timing down.

Kruul is more difficult than Varris. You need to save lust and Cooldowns for Kruul. Both defensive and offensive. You will need to rotate your def cooldowns in order to survive annihilate.

It just takes practice to get the timings down and the flow of the fight. It is progression, so you just have to keep calm and progressing the fight further and further till you win.

For damage on Varris (sp?) Or does the puddle hurt the Nether guys?

Im seeing all the comments and i appreciate them. Ill write more when im not at work. Thanks everybody.

The puddle just puts a stacking debuff on you. Which makes you take more damage from Varris. More than 5 stacks and his spells start to chunk you.

The point of the moonfire build is that you dont have to be in the circle to damage him. And dont rely on the dot. You can spam cast the spell to fish for procs. So unless you are in the puddle meleeing varris or meleeing the nether horrors, you should be spamming moonfire on Varris and the eyes.

The whole fight is a DPS and mechanic race. You want to kill Varris before too many infernals spawn. Ideally 2 at most, but can be done with 3.

I would recommend watching the 10.1.5 guides on youtube for it. They will break down the fight and mechanics.

I am going again reiterate that P2 is more difficult than P1. So you need to master P1 so you can start practicing P2. But it is a mechanics fight. You just have to do the mechanics right every time.
