I’m stuck on the last achievement Been waiting a long time for this (25man).
The goal is to get necrotic plague to stack 30 times. The LK casts it every 15 seconds. You have to stack it on the ghouls which kills one and spreads to the others. If I am understanding it correctly. However when I get about 12 ghouls that the lich king spawns, I try to infect one of the ghouls, it kills the ghoul but doesn’t spread to another ghoul. I don’t see any stacks building up. I’ve watched several youtube videos, been to wow head. tried to follow the guide exactly but I don’t know if I am doing something wrong or if my game is bugged.
If anyone has the achievement or knows how to do it, could you help me do it?
Essentially you need a taunt pet or a summon from an item and a way to lose threat. You build up a crap ton of mobs, usually 30 is safe, and then drop threat to your pet/summon. You then sit there for a long *** time as necrotic jumps.
Basic answer is you need more ghouls. Also you don’t need it cast on you multiple times, you pretty much just want the original cast hoping around.
You can either tab until you find the infected one or just watch the buff on Arthas he gets, though doing that you likely want to wait until more than 30 stacks.
So if I get 30 ghouls up then I can put np on them one time. Because what I do is get many ghouls, get the plague on them as many times as I can, but I always get knocked off when I am close to Arthas
To avoid getting knocked off the platform, orient yourself with your back to his throne. Then you just get knocked back into the throne stairs and not off the platform.
I have not done this in a long, long time, but the way I recall it, no, you stand in one place with your back to the stairs up to the throne the entire time. Never attack Arthas. Once you have a LOT of mobs, either send a pet you can control to attack Arthas or use a trinket that procs a pet that will attack him (you can attack the Horrors to get the trink to proc, it may take a long time). When Arthas switches aggro to the pet, he will then cast the plague on you and it will start bouncing around on its own. I am sure that I just stood in one place the entire time, and since I had to use a trinket and had to wait for the proc, the whole thing took something like 15 or 20 minutes.
You can focus Arthas to see how many stacks he has of a different debuff from the plague, which might not be accurate but at least will tell you that you are making progress. I used an add-on called RaidAchievement that applauded when it was OK for me to kill Arthas. I think Wowhead has all these points detailed.
