Should you greed or all need on BoE epics even if you can’t use it vs players that can use it.
My argument is that one BoE item is exchangeable for another, and if we say item “x” is worth 100g and item “y” is worth 100g then, why should one be passing on item x, given x=y , in theory I will be passing on an item I can use.
By extending your logic every item is worth gold and I need gold for my epic mount, so I am passing on a % of my epic mount whenever I dont hit need.
If everyone greeds isn’t it the same as everyone need rolling?
imagine the situation: A BiS weapon for a tank drops in a dungeon run.
Should the group greed and let the tank need or should they all need ?
no, because until everyone rolls on the item, the idea that everyone IS rolling greed on the item…not confirmed.
not really, BoP items are worth a lot more to the class that can use it, and only a few g to the class that does not use it. BoE items are worth the same to every class.
If everybody rolls NEED on rare/epic BOE drops (like they should), then there is no “ZOMG NINJA NINJA NINJA!!!” drama when (4) doofuses roll GREED on [Teebu’s Blazing Longsword] and the fifth party rolls NEED.
I mean, they’re worth the same gold. But if someone can use it in game, at that very moment for a benefit, I think it’s polite to let them.
In my opinion, if someone in the group can use the item and it’s BiS or just a great upgrade, let them need it. If no one can currently fit that criteria, everyone greed.
Sure, we could all use the currency and gold but that’s not necessarily guaranteed unless you vendor it. Regardless, I think it’s just friendly to allow people in the run to have first chance at it. They helped you get it after all.
if everyone needs you eliminate the option for a ninja to steal it, because they have to compete.
If you’re in a pug everyone needs.
If a guild run need main spec.
If the 5th user can’t, or doesn’t INTEND to use the item, then they ninja’d it.In which case, thanks to no cross realm lfg, or any of that tom foolery, they will get on a blacklist… end of discussion.
A few g for me is worth far more than the random player in a pug that gets an upgrade that will be replaced in time anyway… I will literally never replace an epic mount.
Its all subjective is my point.
found the ninja
That’s not the reality of it though, there’s plenty of players that need on items they can use but they just end up putting them on the AH with a bank alt anyway. It would be great if everyone only rolled on stuff they actually needed but that’s just not gonna happen.
Okay, great – thanks for that.
I’ll continue to roll NEED on [Teebu’s Blazing Longsword], [Alcor Sunrazor], [Hand of Edward the Odd] (et al) and all the threats of tears will not dissuade me (or anybody on the eastern slope of a certain bell curve, I expect).
Exactly my point, thanks for playing along.
The easiest and fairest thing is just everyone need. Sure you might lose an item you can actually use but it still works better then all but 1 greed it.
Thats the rub, those people are ninjas, and while for greens it’s not that important, once you get the boe blues and epics, it starts becoming significantly more important.
Probably should be discussed before ever entering the dungeon or group activity. Right now as poor as everyone is BOE stuff should probably just be needed by everyone. Honestly if a purple dropped my class could use I would probably still sell it just to get some much needed money.
It’s something that should be worked out by the group long before there’s a specific drop to fight over. Ask the group how they roll BoEs, particularly Rare/Epic that vendor for a lot.
