your roll isnt dicarded if you leave … you’re still rolling its just mailing you the item if you win
no they dont have to stay to get the loot. if you leave your roll rolls if you win it gets mailed to you

AFAIK, that’s false. The only thing it prevents is you rolling on stuff that won’t be useable for your class, so no warriors/hunters rolling need on an int staff for mog.
But as a caster, I can fully roll need on an int staff that’s a lower ilvl for mog

happened to me rolled 79 on a chestpiece, i had 242
someone else rolled also 79 on it, theirs was 132 from timewalking. they got it

AFAIK, it only factors in lootspec, and the no rolling on an exact duplicate rule.

I can make it work. Vendor gear, run lfr, buyback gear. Not in bags or bank. There is always a way. Its not that complicated.
