I’m finding myself in this situation where I have to choose between casting Tyrant before my dogs expire and squeezing out one more cast before Nether Portal expires. I’ve tried delaying my dogs, but that reduces my Nether Portal casts because I have to cast Shadow Bolt twice to summon my dogs after I’ve spent all my shards. My only other option is to gamble on a Demonic Calling proc. I assume that casting as much as I can, but making sure that my dogs get extended is the best thing to do. Please tell me if I’m wrong. This kind of nuance isn’t explained in any guides I’ve read.
Extending dogs is an absolute must, and in that situation try to squeeze in a tyrant so that you have extra shards to dump with HOG so you can trigger more demons from nether portal…
Usually try to pre-cast shadowbolts up to 5 shards on pull, going somewhere like this
—precast—
power siphon (2 charges on inner demons)
shadowbolt
----pull-----
shadowbolt
netherportal
soulburn
grimoire
dogs
From here try to squeeze in a few more shards with
demon bolt + HOG (usually two of these)
when you got 6-5 seconds left on Nether portal then cast tyrant
follow it up with as many HOG as you can
(this is assuming you’re not running vile fiend)
Okay, except the Nether Portal build doesn’t get free shards from casting Tyrant, but thank you for answering my question about the dogs. I’m not a huge fan of Nether Portal, but the pit lord is the only burst that Demo has. My dmg is lolz for 15 seconds and then BOOM. Burst is important cuz u lose consistent dmg to fight mechanics, so pumping as hard as you can at the start is important.
Anyone have a working macro to cast Soulburn after NP? I can’t get it to work.

nope, I tried that. I don’t know why it doesn’t work. I also tried:
/cast Nether Portal
/cast Soulburn
And it worked initially, but nada now. I don’t know why. It’s already so many buttons I figured I could combine those into one. Or at least that was the hope.
My Nether Portal + Soulburn macro works, I just spelled Soulburn wrong in my previous post. I mean, you have to hit the button twice.
