Need help with quest

So I’m going back to complete WoD pathfinder and I can’t do this quest “Frenzied Manafeeders”. The problem is that I can’t use the quest item until the mob is below 35% health.

These mobs have only 7,500 hp. If unequip everything I am still hitting unarmed for over 13k. How am I supposed to do only 5k damage?

die at least once and keep gear unequipped or get the toy sword that won’t kill enemies.
